  1. I’ve had a number of breeds but only recently got my first lurcher. He’s greyhound bull x greyhound collie, about 2 and half years old. Brilliant dog, Intelligent, Fast but doesn’t overshoot, Will not turn down anything, good day or night and good with the ferrets. only problem is with him once he starts to chase there is no stopping him regardless of what ends up in his way, Turn the lamp off if they get near a hedge etc and he’ll continue to course in the dark through the hedge etc. Many a time he's caught well after I’ve turned the lamp off. This isn’t such a good thing he did t
  2. My dog’s greyhound bull x greyhound collie his pads are fine but he just does not know when to give up the chase. He’s laid up at the moment with a nasty cut behind his back hind leg just under the knee after coursing a rabbit into some bramble. at first with the location thought he might have caught it in a snare as it goes straight across but there is no marks on the front. He’s hurt himself a couple of times and I feel guilty as uck. At the end of the day they love doing a job and running at high speeds day or night they have a chance of getting injured. Just be careful where you cour
  3. I like that phrase mate Moonlight mooching lol. Thank you for all your comments. I sometimes like it better than lamping. Walking over the fields on a moonlit still night. Following the sound of the chase. its somehow a lot more relaxing just man and pooch on a moonlit night. bloody hell ill be getting the candles and wine out for him next lol
  4. just too many bloody rabbits

  5. I use one like the mag lamp 800 lumes on ebay came with bat charger, car charger adaptor plug. Lasts all night. Fits in my pocket, can be discrete if I’m just popping the dogs out for a short walk local. before you lads start laughing iv got other lamps but this does the job and only cost £12.00 with postageps obviously they were not caught with dogs due to the hunting with hounds acts
  6. Cheers mate and I thought I was going to get grief for it lol. Id leave him off the lead but know he will run anything and I like to have a look at what he is after [bANNED TEXT] I let him off. There eyesight is unreal. I wont be able to see 10 ft in front of me and he will see game at about 50 100 yards away
  7. ps obviously the hares are shot with it been illegal to hunt them with hounds
  8. Have any of you ever run a dog in the dark? I take mine out sometimes on a full moon with no clouds. I do take a mag light to just see what he is interested in. He will let me know when he has seen something. The land is nice and flat, no barbed wire fences etc and the calmer night the better. Yes I know goes against everything we were ever taught and read. He gets a good kill rate considering it’s normally a long way off but the land where I do this is very flat and the dog knows the land very well. I like the calm nights with me not been able to see him I can hear where they are going. I k
  9. lovely looking dog mate. I went for a quick walk earlier with the pooch then did some shooting. pooch 5 me 3. went on some permission as the farmer told me he had a problem with foxs and didnt see 1. seen 12 hares tonight problem is where i went for the foxs he hates dogs so taking the pooch is a no no. ill attach a pic but the dog didnt get these with it been illegal. any hare pictures i pop up have been shot

The wind is howling, the rabbits and hares are playing out and so are we lol. been for a quick walk tonight with the pooch then on to some other permission with the gun where he does not like dogs full stop. dog got 5 i got 3. I couldnt hold the gun still, got blown about all over and lost my hat. Seen 12 hares and only 8 rabbits
  11. Iv just been out local mate. was only out for about an hour from leaving my front door. I got these but obviously not with the pooch seen as how its illegal now. couldnt ask for a better night.

  14. Very interesting post. Thought it might have answered my question. I’ve got a bull grey x collie grey. Im thinking about getting a bitch and to possibly breed them but don’t have a clue what to get. He’s a good all-rounder taking everything single handed. I kept thinking about different breeds but think I would be best trying to get the same x bitch as I am very happy with him. Any advice please
  15. bull grey x collie grey Iv learnt how to put pictures up now lol Been out with him tonight for a short walk ran 4 killed 3
