  8. Hi All I was wondering could I get a bit of help please. One of my lurcher bitches has got pregnant by a sheepdog not ideal , my mistake !! Just wondering would the pups be any good for hunting, {{not expecting them to be that fast on the lamp etc but would be steady enough out ferreting maybe }} } lurcher is wheaton x grey x bull, not sure of the exact mix though she is 19tts and is the dog in my avatar. My next question is how long after birth is the right time to start exercising her up again to have her hunting, ?I am not being cruel to her just want to make sure i do everything

  14. Hi All Just wondering if there are any members in the east cork area who would like to go out lamping rabbits. I have a lurcher myself and liitle pockets of permissionaround my area, basically am looking for someone else with a dog and a lamp to go with as I find my lamp is only lasting about an hour and would like to stay out longer than this and find it is better fun if 2 people are out as the night lasts longer. pm me if interested... irishboy....

  17. Hi All Just wondering, what should I pack in to a small bag, medical kit wise, the other night the dog cut her ear and there was some amount of blood came out of it,took all night to stop dripping, nice little scab on it now but last night it started dripping again, it was only a small nick with thorn or something, Just wondering what do ye have on ye at all times ? cheers IB
  18. Hi Casso I baulked on the trainer thing as the dog is top notch these days and i dont want to do anything to change that,Im afraid that the trainer would knock the hunting instinct out of her. yes she is still hyper when left out of the kennel and I stay around with the small girls, but she seems to not be as hyper for as long, maybe she is maturing ,she is 18 months old now. out the other night with her and she had another 4 rabbits and unlucky not to have 6.Very very pleased with her at the moment. 19. Csteed. My problem was that the dog was retrieving but not all the way back and would stop short of me part of the issue is she was half afraid of me because i tried to stop her jumping up on the.kids.but one month of feeding by hand and playing tug with her and shestarted retrieving all the way back to me, not sure if your issueis thesame, but post your problem here and definitely some one will beable to help. 20. HI to all many thanks for the advice provided to me about 2 months ago, i had nearly given up on my lurcher.if you remember she was catching rabbits but not retrieving to me and running around and starting to eat them, people advised me to stop hunting and to feed the dog from my hand. Well for the month of september i did this, and found it hard work not to be out in the fields with her but my god has it paid off,its like someone has taken away my dog and given me a new one. last week went out with her and got 5 rabbits !!!, all retrieved back to me, I never had a dog that did 4 3 in one n
  21. 44 david 44 no totally solo out with her all the time,
  22. casso, strange you mentioned this, i do stop her jumping up at me as I have 2 small girls and didnt want her to being jumping on them and possibly knocking them and then they would be afraid of her.looks like i have a lot to do and afraid i am not the most patient or any good when it comes to this.might have to get some outside help for this, any trainer in cork to help with this in the personal touch ?
  23. Have tried the walking away thing too and she runs ast me with rabbit in mouth and impossible to catch her.then she will start eating the rabbit and only by sneaking up on her can i get it off her.
  24. Thanks Davie I have been doing the dummy testing, she will bring this back to me eventually but she gets bored after 2 times and shows no interest in it the third time.
