  1. is he docked? What work's he done?
  2. is there no dogs out of the same litter that've bred a decent bitch you could put him over, so you'd be using his niece not sister? that's probably the way I'd want to go.
  3. good looking pup that, and seems an honest write-up. If I was after a lurcher it'd be one I'd seriously consider.
  4. very good price for borders that, would like to see more around that area rather than £500 odd!!
  5. Sallie- that dog looks alright when it's not dressed up like a tit. Nothing in the description should put someone who knows terriers off! I agree with Penny though, putting it in a pet home would be a disaster...
  6. that's a very good price for a pup of that age if it's coming on without problems other than not getting on with the hawk. I will ask around my HPR friends if they're after anything- if you know it's breeding and could PM it'd be appreciated. As above, wondering how its mouth is as well?
  7. doing a bit of googling and it looks like "Brackenfarge badger" isn't directly off Druid, he's off Moss who's Druid's son, so this dog's a great-grandson of Druid. Still a top class pedigree, and much closer to those old lines thanmost modern dogs, but might be worth pointing out.
  8. I've just had to have my cocker bitch spayed due to her dodgy seasons, and I'm worried about her getting fat despite having enough work/suitable feed as seems to be the case with lots of bitches. It's been ages since I kept a bitch, and I've never had one spayed before, so am I being paranoid? Stories of your spayed bitches who didn't get fat and fluffy after being spayed would be great.
  9. I'd give Andy Robinson at Whaupley a bell if I were you- he's a top bloke and has several gold/lemon dogs. I think he's a bit further north than you, but he's Yorkshire based still
  10. got bitten by a toy poddle today. how I refrained from booting the b*****d I'll never know!

could have been worse mate...................it could have been me lol

  11. that's a pretty specific and prob fairly unusual cross you're looking for if you just want a rabbitter?
  12. they're an HPR. In this country they're used as a gundog, but on the continent, like the other HPR breeds, they're expected to be more versitile in their hunting. They're not a hound though...
  13. agree with this, it sounds like a mix of keenness and frustration. my old dog started to yap when he was getting on a bit- frustration at not being able to catch what he'd once been able to. if this dog was catching regular ten months ago, then stopped, it's not going to be as fit, but it'll remember that it used to be.
  14. agreed lab! rokiller, I'm glad you're having a good time beating with your jack russell, but if it works better than most spaniels I'd suggest spaniels ain't up to much round your way!
  15. ain't no such thing!! if it's solid colour its more likely to be cocker, at least a sprocker. you can get heavily liver marked springers, yes, but why is colour a priority?!! ultimately springers AREN'T solid coloured. end of.
  16. cracking pics of what looks like a cracking day- really nice to see good examples of this cross
  17. FTW Maesydderwen Supremacy is blue roan and has breeding most right minded cocker people would give their right ball for.I can't remember the genetics, but black dogs often throw roans-if they're bred right don't worry about the colour!
  18. market trader's a super dog. if the bitch is well bred too there shouldn't be a problem. most modern springers (with a few exceptions- torwind, towerbird, newflame are affixes that spring to mind) have a lot of rytex in them, as Openshaw is a dominant force in producing top spaniels whereas the Badgercourt line has all but died out. read hily's advice above and read it well.
  19. Yes! Hedley Millington RIP understood more about the breed than most have forgotten (along with Cyril Gwynne, Peter Jones) They didn't call him the cocker man for nothing. You're unlikely to get a cocker with very recent Nancarrow breeding though as the man's been dead almost four years. My bitch has a nancarrow/cornish bred dam and sire out of maesydderwen kestral (who was also owned by Millington), and that's the kind of breeding I'd look for again in a pup.
  20. Quest are really good, but I've got to be biased and recommend my friend Helen www.hilost.co.uk

    sad news

oh god, that's awful. so sorry. as others have said, hand rearing pups isn't easy, but it can be done. this article- http://www.petalia.com.au/templates/storytemplate_process.cfm?story_no=753 might be of use, and I'm sure Skycat will have good advice too. If you have any trouble getting hold of syringes/teats small enough at this stage I have some tiny ones I can sterilize and post. Just PM me if needed. good luck.
  22. f**king horsefly bite on my leg's got infected- can't even bend my leg and it's itchy as owt!

  23. good luck mate, hope she's got some more live ones in there!
