  3. Gaz I got a nice collie whippet grey dog he's great how's that pup off Rio doing
  4. Time wasted on writeing the post should be spent on getting to the vet
  5. Classify a good dog man or a good dogs. Some men good with bringing on coursing dogs some good rabbit dogs not many masters of both. As goes for lurcher's some absolutely belting rabbiting dogs won't make the cut on the coursing land so I would say the good men are those with the right breed of dog for the job they are doing. in my opinion there are rarely poor dogs generally poor training but as we all no we are all guilty of poor trainig at some point. So to conclude right breed and bloke with brains to do his job there. Shouldnt then be poor or broken dogs.
  6. I prefer lurcher lurcher x's as preferred as you tend to get a lot of waste with 1st x litters but as a base to start with to go too perhaps whippet collie greyhound the dalmation has qualities that are required in what I would want in a lurcher it can be found in other breeds but why not the dalmation all dogs have bad points and good points how you breed your dog is down to you aslong as you get the results you want its up too you.
  7. Never owned a first cross had a 3/4 grey. X she was one of the best dogs I ever owned.
  8. smithfield types (collie x's) maybe mate but cant imagine the lines are still going seeing there are no real smithfeild collie's left and i imagine what ever lurchers held the blood it would have been been bred out by now seeing its been over a century since the smithfields were about mate.
  9. Beddy with a dash whippet quite timid but good ferreting companion and tidy ratting dog
  10. Hi folks could I have some advice I have a 1x saluki typical big ears he split the tip now everytime he runs it bleeds does my head in what's the best cure I know its just leave him kenneled up just want know if there is any miracle cure thanks.
  11. Ok getting back to your post coursing hare is an amazing sport hence its popularity still even though the ban is in place. I understand the population needs preserving but in all fairness if you been around lurchers all your adult life then you will appriciate that it takes a fair dog to go out and not only course but kill hares on a regular basis espically round my area. The "chav bling" folk as you have described I doubt have the dogs to do any real damage to the hare population, unless they are lamping them all the time that I have a problem with.
  12. This comment is bollocks I've seen some brilliant hare dogs bred of council estate lads who treat them and hares with the respect they deserve you get diks whatever there social standing.
  13. Good prey drive. This may cause me too be ripped apart but I have seen intelligence in the breed but they can have a huge stubborn streak.
  14. My dog scar saluki X works the beam well retrieve's in a fashion and has turned out a great deterring dog just need improving on holding the bunnies in the net a bit heavy mouthed put's big ears up out of cover regular
