  6. To be honest Tomo, they are made from Solardry fabric so will dry out when they get wet pretty quick. If it is going to pour down on me all day then that's where the goretex comes in. Mine are just plain Craghoppers Kiwi trousers. OTC
  7. I wear Craghopper Kiwi trousers every day and I have found them to be the best all-round trouser available. I have tried the full range of Rohan trousers, and The North Face, but even though they are cheaper I have found them to beat them all. Shop around for them - I have bought them for about £20 a pair new from eBay. OTC
  8. I'm not too good with earwigs, exposed height or children's dolls but not a lot really scares me. I have a mate who's terrified of cotton wool, and a relative who cannot bear balloons. All very odd I suppose. I was told once that the only fear that you are actually born with is falling. Where's Mackem? He knows all about this sort of thing OTC
  9. Both FENN and SPRINGER are approved for use in the UK. Also traps marked SOLWAY are approved in the same manner. OTC
  10. Just to stir the waters more - in old time trapper and MAF parlance traps set 'open' were traps set away from holes on runs etc. Open trapping is anything that is done without a covered trap (by a tunnel of sorts). Gins were often set open and some later attempts at producing a humane trap were designed to be used this way. In fact - I think I am right in saying that the early approval orders actually allowed open trapping of rats and mice with the first approved spring traps, but the wording was altered on later AO's. 11. What a great disguise - who'd have thought there was a tractor hiding behind there?? He looks like a good steady shot too . . . . OTC
  12. I saw some good well made ones on eBay for about 6 quid the other day OTC
  13. Cats and foxes catch them and play with them without eating them sometimes - same goes for shrews. They must taste funny or something? OTC
  14. Moles can swim They push up molehills head first They appear to have 6 toes on the rear foot when X-rayed but this is a Tibial appendage not a true toe OTC
  15. I used to use fir cones soaked in coal-tar creosote - just roll a few down each hole - it stinks for ages OTC
  16. Elastic size for it is 3/16" but 1/4" if you are feeling strong. You should find it on eBay if you look OTC
  17. They were cast aluminium - a light rub over with fine wire wool will bring back its shine a little OTC
  18. Does anyone know the origin of the word 'moudie' which is the olde English word for mole?? I don't but I thought maybe someone would? OTC
  19. To sell yes but to use no - they are a heap of junk Hundreds of Thousands made and so far as I know only 7 survive - the reason - they smashed themselves to bits when they fired. Total junk! OTC
  20. Hundreds of this type were tested by the Ministry and failed in the run up to the banning of the gin trap and none of them really managed to make it right. The Juby and Imbra were a result of countless design alterations and drawing board changes. The original patented traps look far derived from the ones we know and use today. If it were easy to make a good, light, cheap, effective, killing spring trap then where is it? Why are we importing DOC traps from NZ? Why do our own traps not kill quickly enough?? I would say that an undersprung compact rabbit trap with slotted curved jaws would i
  21. Have you got a photo Micky - I cannot think what type you mean? Unless it is an imported US made trap OTC
  22. They are still under test by the GCT - why I don't know as they have already been approved by the Ministry You can get them direct from NZ from the manufacturer though OTC
  23. The were not for sale long T-R - they did not work very well for long Several different people made them, in different sizes too OTC
