  1. Thanks mate. The gun is awesome. Well done bud. Fran
  2. Nice shooting. Can I ask if those are Sportsmatch Extra-High mounts or just High? Cheers Fran
  3. Hi Mawders, That was a great read and great pics too, thanks for sharing. Beautiful shot you placed there by the way. There's nothing like enjoying the sport with your old man I suppose. My dad taught me everything he knew about hunting, but I've never managed to get out with him. Good stuff buddy, keep it coming. ATB Fran
  4. Ahhh awesome. You just show us how it's done mate. Absolutely lovely stuff. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks Fran
  5. The best pellet is the one that groups the tightest and consistently so, because with airguns it's accuracy that kills (the energy being minimal). The stopping power I would leave to firearms. Pigeons drop nicely when you shoot them in the head Atb Fran
  6. Thinking the same Andy Fran , whats this about your zero ? Seems like you have a bit of trouble there .......... Hi Buster, I have experienced slight changes of my zero point when substantially altering the weight distribution on my springers, especially the .177 ones, as the recoil is harsher. On the hw97, I once mounted a lamp sideways and when shooting from the bench I could see the groups being wider than I could remember. Removed the lamp, tighter groups. On another note, yeah I guess the 32x mag only really makes sense for range-finding on the FT range.. I us
  7. Hi there, I would advice you NOT to use any cold bluing products over the original finish of your gun. Since you're already worried about something that can only be seen under particular light conditions, you wouldn't be happy with the results, I'm sure. If you want a brand spanking new looking gun, the only real way is professional hot bluing. This will cost you usually more than 100 quid. If you think you can live with it, then you need to make sure there's always a sensible layer of gun oil on the steel, as this can easily be rubbed off by the padding of some bags. If you're handy, you
  8. Hi Bill, I agree with you. I firmly believe that having an airgun and shooting it without periodically checking its performance is exactly the same as regularly driving a car without a speedometer. Besides, a chrono is an invaluable source of information: how do I just start Chairgun without knowing at what speed my pellet is going? How did I choose those pellets in first place?(granted: accuracy comes first, then speed IMO). So I don't understand people that spend a grand or more on a rifle and save fifty quid for a cheap combro. Sorry if this got out of topic, sorry to hear that Dogvix
  9. Very nice shooting Si, some cracking shots there! Cheers Fran
  10. Nice shooting bud. I wish all my christening outings were that successful Does your zero change when you put your lamping gear on? Congratulations Fran
  11. I've used the Newport branch to buy an HW80 in January 2011. The guy who served me was really helpful and patient. The gun was cheaper alright, but wasn't Hull Cartridge imported, which is fine for a springer IMO, as one can generally fix a springer himself if something isn't right with it. But, when I got back home, I chrono'd it and was running at more than 13 fpe with Daystate FT. I had to grind off a little bit of the mainspring to get it right. No biggie, but .. you know where I'm going. I don't know if this could have happened with a regular import. That's my experience with them.
  12. Done for you mate. I must say, your vids and Si's are absolutely fantastic and I was actually drawn to this forum by you two guys, so pls keep it up and never mind those idiots. Fran
  13. Hi all, my name is Fran and I live near Maidenhead - Berkshire. I am an airgun enthusiast and go hunting on my permissions whenever the family allows it (have two very young kids ..) I have a few springers (AA ProSport, HW77, HW80, HW97) and a pcp (HW100). So far, I have been a spectator of this forum, but now I look forward to contribute to it and maybe share some of my hunting stories with you. Cheers Fran
