Mate I would love to have you over here with the pack, just name a date. I liked the two I saw of yours in Sussex. They were shit hot workers. And you better bring a brace of long dogs too!! Tusker
  3. I have a bunch of dogs here that we use for both flushing boar from plantations, as well as tracking shot deer/boar. I have some terrier type, cross' hounds, as well as some larger breeds. Gundog breeds, and more. My aim is to keep just 1 type of dog here that will cover all of the boar hunting jobs that I need a dog for. Its good practice for all of us involved in wild game management, to have trained dogs at hand to assist in finding any beast that are shot and have ran on. especially so with the tight cover of young sitka spruce that is widely planted across my concessions. The
  4. Its no more difficult to shoot a boar here than it is in France mate. Our regular guns use rifles. But I have seen shotguns employed to good effect. I reckon in a year or so, I will be able to invite guests who can bring their own dogs to flush the boar, or to be a paying gun. Im not one for shooting them from high seats over bait stations, well at least not yet, as the population is still low.
  5. I'm flushing boar to rifles, in the UK. Anyone else running hound types on boar, what sort of dogs are you using? Post on thread or PM.

  7. Strong Stuff That green collar looks nice, sure that would stop a tusk mate? I used seatbelt collars for years, how strong is your webbing in comparison to seatbelt webbing? Like I say I would gladly test one for you, and if its fine will pay your going rates
  8. Ive picked up 12 road kills for the dogs from the western highlands in May alone! The numbers are very high, every patch of cover has roe. Dont think Ive seen many sika though dougie, plenty reds.
  9. Ive had a few noisy dogs, and I liked em all! As long as they work properly. Its helped me enormously in the past, with locating the dog on quarry in thick bush
  10. Nice dog mate , his coat and feet are good, what weight is he?
  11. I know some good dog men, both in Oz and UK, and they wouldnt want their stock ending up in any pet home, or one that didnt exactly meet their standards, dogs from top breeding need the right owners to get the best out of them. I guess it depends on your standards, and how much you cherish your line of workers.
  12. if its not for you then fair enough but i gave £85 for it not long ago off hear so please go away div Havnt been called a name like that since I was a school boy. But yes, I will go away. Leave you lot in the mad house
  13. Rake.. Ive spent my working life catching pigs, deer and roos... which only makes me more confused with your comments. Im not with you gents? Its a book right?? And your on about 100s of pounds... is it an antique or something? Do you go out after reading it and catch twice the normal haul of venison? Do you feel like a tube when you buy a book for a hundred bucks... I would mate. UK = Crazy
  14. What?! Are you serious mate? 100s for a book... now thats a bloody good one mate... why would anyone pay more than say 20/30 dollars for a good read? Is it an antique? Or are you winding me up?
  15. Is it a book mate? How is that a good price for a book? Crazy pommy lunatics... your all mad
  16. Its my pet hate with the UK.... barbed wire!! EVERYWHERE Do you sew 'em up using the sterile needle/thread packets or stapler? I still use the sterile needle/thread though mates are using staplers more often Take care Tusker
  17. I love the breed, their plucky little dogs with heart. Many hunting dogs in Australia have a bit (or a lot) of cattle dog in them. I could see the appeal of adding a drop into your lurcher lines here in the UK. Good luck finding the right sort mate. Tusker
  18. Ive seen many good pig dogs in Australia that would do me proud if I was still there catching pigs, but in the UK Ive been lucky enough to have had some great invites out with various people. The outstanding dog in my mind is the BULLY/GREY called BUD in the North East of England, holy shit lads that is a dog that will die trying and nothing is safe with that dog behind it, so fast for his size, I'll just say YIKES, I was gobsmacked
  19. Spoken by one of the most genuine dogmen I have ever met. Nice to see you online mate. If you need an extra pair of hands carrying all those rabbits off the hills anytime, drop me a text. Take care Tusker
  20. Great fun mate, some of the best times of my life catching pigs. These mother ****ers over here in Europe are a hand full lol Savage. If your working holders you want some decent gear on the dogs! Good hunting mate Tusker
  21. Awesome! ......Oh! mate, what kind of camera are you shooting with? Take care Tusker
  22. Hi Keano, any chance of elaborating on the dog you mentioned? What made it such a good dog, the name snatch means nothing to me, no offence meant by that, just im not at all clued up with well known dogs over here. What sort of running dog was it?
  23. Nice reading gents, thanks. Its great to hear that others also treasure certain dogs/bitches, and admire them at the top of their game. Many of us hunt different quarry, and use different crosses, but we all know a good dog when we see one. Romany, I admire that bitch Bes even more now! Has that line of lurchers faded away or do some folk still work them? Credit where its due, to have a one-off is one thing but to produce great dogs generation after generation is something to be very proud of. Great dogs on this thread folks, and the pictures are tops. I guess its a bit like a hall of
  24. Certainly, they sound like super handy dogs mate, a dog that does the job it was bred for, and does it with heart and gusto is a great asset to any kennel.
