  1. Lay a course of blocks out dry, so you know where you're going with the sizes of the runs and how many cuts you'll need, make sure the corners are 90 degrees (use the 3,4,5 rule), make sure your first course are bang on level, then just remember "square, level and plumb" and you'll be OK. If your mates are busy, just ask one of them if they can knock your corners up three or four courses, then you can have a go at the straight runs steady away, that'll keep you busy until you get a bit more help, but straight forward blockwork is easy enough if you prepare yourself, just don't rush and don't u

She's got tits like spaniels ears And pissflaps like John Waynes saddlebags Couldn't stop a pig in a ginnel Like a pig in a poke If it wasn't for his nose, his eyes would be fighting Teeth like dominoes, three blank Her teeth are like stars, they come out at night If it wasn't for the pio-rea, diorrhea and gonorrhea, she'd be a bonny lass

  5. I'm looking to make a rag top for my pick up and would like some help sourcing the tarp for the cover. I've had a look at a brand new one for a defender and like the material, I don't want the old canvas type that the series Landies had, I'm wanting the new type, it's like the stuff on the curtain sided wagons, but maybe not as heavy duty. It's not going on a Landy, so there's won't fit. Any help in sourcing some would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  6. Bloody hell E&H, I bet you'd nip a currant, I've replaced the phone this morning, it's the info of the old one that I need, but it made me smile anyway. That's a belter. The phone's on the window bottom now over a radiator, here's hoping, if that doesn't work, a mate says he can take it to work and wash it in some hydroscopic electrolosis solution, which will absorb any residual moisture, they do it with water damaged circuit boards, but there's is a bit industrial, I was hoping it could be done at a phone shop.
  7. After a decent enough day out yesterday, we had an absolutely cracking morning today with the terriers and like a pillock, I've celebrated by leaving my phone in my trousers when I got in, so my gear has been in the washer, phone and all. What I'd like to know is, has anyone ever rescued a phone from this situation, the phone was brand new, which I couldn't care less about, that's easily replaced, I just don't know if newer ones are less hardy, it's the numbers etc that I want back. I have heard in the past that you can have them dipped in some solution that pulls the water out, has an

    Longnet box

John, yes it's changed a bit since then, the one I've made for him now has sloping lids on the ferret boxes and the doors are on the front, not the top, so they don't knock the net poles when opening them, I've also put some swivel clips on the timber rack, so the poles don't bounce out when you're hopping over walls etc. other than that it's the same and works very well, oh and I've put a piece of hose pipe on the front of the box, so the net feeds out nice and smooth, if I get a minute I'll stick a pic on, And as for minding if you make some, not at all mate, I didn't put it up as a commerci
  9. Dug this a couple of years ago, dug the same place since, but I'm not a lover of the camera thing.
  10. A few more terrier boxes ready, I've PM'd the lads who they're for.
  11. Good answer, especially the last bit, but personally I find the .410 hushpower is as good as anything and very quiet as well.
  12. Is the smart charger the 12V one with the motorbike and car symbols, if so, set it on the motorbike symbol for batteries up to 14ah and the car symbol for anything over that, I have one and it's fantastic, a lot faster than the standard Deben plug type charger, I have one of those as well, but it's just gathering dust, because the smart charger runs rings round it.
  13. There is a sheepdog auction on Friday 26th October at Skipton Auction Mart, 10.00am start. Not a bad day out if you've nowt else on. The dogs are trialled and auctioned straight after each trial. The last time I was there 1500 guineas was the days record and some absoluely first class dogs were seen on the day. There was one young lass trialling a dog though that couldn't even get a start at 25 guineas, all it wanted to do was play with the sheep, which was a shame really, as it must have been up to the job to a reasonable degree, otherwise I can't see any reason for anyone getting up

I'm glad you like it, thanks very much.
  15. As some of the fellas have mentioned a folding saw would be better...... Yep, 3 quid from Wilkinsons, tape one to your shovel shaft, better than sharpening the graft blade every week.
  16. I agree with a lot of what you're saying there p***y, maybe I just didn't explain properly, night shift an all, what I meant by stepping down the ladder, was reffering to the hard mute dogs that just steam in and take instant control, most of the terriers I've seen and owned that work like this always work like this, and to be honest, I like a control freak of a terrier, if they can back them up quickly and take hold, normally the one hold will last until you break through, it's when this type of dog starts giving tongue I find it suspect. And yes I've had dogs that I wish would make a bit of
  17. The terriers you have are obviously sound and with that you are in a very good position, as for hard dogs baying, personally I think it depends on what you determine a bayer, I've owned and witnessed hard dogs that have had a change of working style and started to give tongue but continue to hold ground, but very very few, most real deal hard dogs work that way because it's the only way they know how to AND because they're good at it. More often than not and this is only from personal experience, the hard dogs that start to give tongue have just taken the first step backwards down the lad

    TV licence

Don't you still have to have a TV license even if you only use the TV to watch DVD's and if you get rid of the telly altogether, I think you still have to buy a license for the radio, the tossers have got it stitched up, you could register as a blind person, I believe they get a 20% discount, unbelievable. All the other channels pay by advertising, BBC say they don't, but they do nowt but advertise their own programmes, I can't believe that SKY or whoever don't do a package with BBC blocked, that way no one would have to pay for a license. I don't watch the telly much either, but when I do it'

  20. Crow, agree with you 100%, it never ceases to amaze me at the amount of people that have absolutely no comprehension of the price of good quality materials, when the moaning b*****d.s complain about the price, you should give them the materials and tell them to make their own and say you'll buy the nets back off them when they're done and see how many take you up on the offer, I've done this, not with nets mind, but the end result will no doubt be exactly the same.
  21. MTD, you're showing your age there mate, the aerial caps used to fit the original double cap terrier collars. Feeble, you can get the caps from Johnsons Fieldsports, I think there's a link on THL homepage.
  22. You're right about getting out fella, if you waited for perfect conditions, you wouldn't get out much.

    Longnet box

Hooks and nets are not a good combination, especially on the front! It would be getting a cover flap over the hooks, I've been there before.
  24. Nell, the one I'm using is about 15 years old, still doing it's job, a lick of Ronseal every other year and they look after themselves, there's a good few round here that I made before mine and they're all sound. Only difference with the older ones is I used to use mesh, like everyone else, but now I always use the bars. There was an auction on here a year or two back and I donated an old set that were as old as mine, I gave em a bit of a lick, and Sam, who bought them, thought they were made for him. Although I've just done a set for a lad that are a bit special and I like them that much, I'm

    Longnet box

Yep, we've already considered that, and hanging some hooks on the front as well for carrying the bunnies, but this is just a starter and will most likely be scrapped very soon for a MK2, 3, 4 etc.
