  1. No worries mate you had a lot of organising to do with the kids, well that's your story.....but we know better you were spending hours on getting Lady bathed and groomed for the showing . Well done to you!!!!!!! as always she was looking immaculate. It would have been nice to see her run with all the other kc reg whippets on the Saturday.
  2. Fantastic photo!! Well done to Joey and a superb run from Fiona's dog Shogun, and at such a young age, plenty more to come from him as he develops over the next number of months. Hope to see some of the smaller dogs make it to the final next year as the current top under's are getting on, injuries and age going against them.
  3. Here's a sample of some of the pics taken on the day which I feel capture the fun, banter and craic had by all!!!!!!!
  4. A big massive thanks from both Vermin Catcher and myself to everyone who came and supported the ferret showing and racing at Shanes Castle yesterday. It's great to see these little domesticated, inquisitive and comical warriors brought back to the Game Fair. A special thanks to Albert, Steven McGonigal, Deben, Janet Duke and Brian from Cookstown for sponsoring and putting up the prizes that were on offer and especially to Steven McGonigal for stepping in at a moments notice to do the show judging and Tango for helping out......many many thanks to you all!!!!!!!!! Here's a list of the resul
  5. Thank you to Brian who has kindly donated a ferret carrying box which some lucky person will take home with them. I have three ferret bow back carrying boxes, a treble, a double and a single which have all been professionally made by Brian. If anyone is looking a good quality ferret box at affordable prices I would highly recommend him. pm me for his details. Once again thank you very much Brian.
  6. Awesome!!!!! Thank you so much, it's first class!!!! Hope you're available to present it to the winner
  7. Well done to the Paddy, Joey and all the connections!!!!!!! Also to Fiona Devlin and Shogun who run a very close second with a young dog. Fantastic racing, some very close heats and a great final. Scooby's going to be in high demand in the future. Again congratulations to the dog, owner and all connections!!!!!
  8. Thanks Sammy, the nets we got of you earlier in the year are of a great quality, very well knitted and bag excellent. Only problem is that they all seemed to end up in vermin catchers net bags ....maybe something to do with hi vis orange . So if any of you Northern Irish ferreters are in need of any purse nets contact bowersey on here. Mick Dadd who's very well known at the Game Fairs across the water allowed Sammy to knit nets in his stall while he attended to other customers, that says a lot about Sammys net making skills. Maybe a net knitting demonstration might be possible in the future.
  9. Does anyone know how many dogs have qualified this year?
  10. Poor wee rabbit, doesn't look very happy lol neither would you if some huge, gigantic black oversized whippet was trying to latch onto your ass, but then again, there's no telling what some women are into The owner of the rabbit said to Graham "that's a hell of a big whippet you have there mate", Graham took one look at him then at the rabbit, shook his head and walked away laughing
  11. Looking forward to the Tour De France kicking of this weekend. Is there any other cycling fans on THL. Hopefully another British rider will win the yellow jersey this year with Chris Froome. Also hope Mark Cavendish wins the opening stage in a sprint finish and gets to put the yellow jersey on. It should make for interesting viewing. Darren
  12. Think I need to invest into some bigger ferrets!!!!!!!

  15. It's got to be one of the best gallops/race track I've seen...always in tip top condition
  16. Well done to Ollie!!!!!! Janet, now you know the real reason why Ollie didn't enter the showing......they were saving all his energy for the racing
  17. Albert as you're aware many of the people who race in the elite category take their racing very seriously. There needs to be some sort of transparency as to how the dogs are measured. I don't know how the dogs have been measured at all the shows thus far but could I make the following suggestions:- 1 - All the dogs to be measured openly and publicly. 2 - The dogs to be measured on a level surface by three competent people including the handler present and a 2 to 1 majority on the borderline cases. 3 - Using a 21" or 23" bridge for a quick gauge and if it is borderline then use a measuri
  18. We are delighted to announce that Tony Cairnduff will be judging the ferret show.
  19. As there has been a lot of interest and discussion for the ferret racing Albert has kindly allowed us to run a ferret show this year alongside the ferret racing. The ferret show classes will be as follows:- 1 - Polecat Hob 2 - Polecat Jill 3 - Albino Hob 4 - Albino Jill 5 - Any Other Colour Hob 6 - Any Other Colour Jill The winners of classes 1-6 will qualify for the Ferret Show Champion.
  20. It's not always possible to have a pan flat track and as i've already said anyone on a nights lambing wouldn't have hesitated to run their dogs in that field. As you have explained you had to run the racing they way in which you did as the finish would have been too close to the road had you run it the other way. Also heard a lot of positive comments on the day as to how well the trophy marquee/tent was laid out.
  21. I went down to this show and had a great time. It was well attended and i met a number of people who had travelled a fair distance from both north and south to be there. As usual the craic was good. My only complaint of the day was it was too warm!!!!! hey there's just no pleasing some people. Well done!!!!!! to Leanne and those who helped her. Also got to say that the directions and sign posts were first class as it's one of the few shows i've attended where i havn't got lost.........must be a taxi driver thing!!!

  23. I think this time around you need to go a bit easier on the horsey growth hormone and anabolic steroid, 1ml a day should do instead of the 500ml you used for Bolt , come to think of it I would swear that Bolt was a bitch at 8weeks old
