Dazzam replied to Dazzam's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Fantastic Kieran!!!!!! you're one of the few show organisers who give people the opportunity to school their dogs and give them solo's if time permits after the racing is over -
Ireland Lure Only Days During The Winter Months
Dazzam replied to Dazzam's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Thanks Ricky but all we done was school him on the lure....it's more to do with the work that you and Kirsty have put into him plus that Chontelle one....she's a dark horse....think i'll watch how she slips Ollie next time as I might learn a thing or two . I reckon there's lots of other dogs out there which have loads of potential but just never get the opportunity to get schooled on the lure. -
Ireland Lure Only Days During The Winter Months

As the show season is coming to an end and the hunting season has now begun would there be much of an interest in having a number of lure only days during the winter. Not everyone hunts their dogs and I have spoken to lots of people at the various shows who never get the opportunity to school their dogs on the lure due to not having a lure or they don't have anyone to help them operate the lure and slip the dogs etc etc. There are dogs out there who showed little interest in chasing the lure but after a bit of schooling turned out to be great dogs. Also it will help people who have pups during -

Dazzam replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Lol whippets are only good for keeping your feet warm in the winter!!!!!! lol  waiting for all the backlash from the whippet world lol . I was in pets4home earlier and there was an ad for whippet pups offering a free handbag with every pup lol.........joke joke -
Some cracking pictures there!!!!! That's some line up for both the lurchers and terriers. A big well done to all the qualifiers, show winners and race winners over the weekend though I don't recognise that person with Maverick being presented with the 5 nations lurcher champion

Ireland Racing Winners To Be Measured At Birr?
Dazzam replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Thanks Shane.......if papers were shown for every dog......then it's up to others to use the objection system to challenge whether papers have been falsified or not and unless the objection system is used there's nothing more the race organisers can do. -
Ireland Racing Winners To Be Measured At Birr?
Dazzam replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Congratulations to all the race winners on Saturday. Well done to Fiona winning the u21, u23 and o23 elite racing. I'm a bit confused as to the whippet racing....was there not to be two separate whippet races one for kc registered papered whippets and one for unregistered whippets like there was at Shanes Castle? -

Ireland Rabbits, Ferrets & Poachers At Birr Game Fair
Dazzam replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Awesome news!!!! it's fantastic to see the ferrets again taking to the stage at Birr. I wish Steven and everyone involved a super successful and fun day out!!! I would highly recommend anyone interested at giving long netting a go to watch Stevens display as it's very informative and it certainly encouraged Vermin Catcher an myself to give it a try.....and to be honest we wished we had tried it years ago....as it has accounted for us getting many more rabbits and gaining us access to land we couldn't have ferreted any other way. -
For me outside the game fairs the Mourne is the largest and most attended lurcher and terrier show which also caters for a lot of aspects of terrier and lurcher work. If i had the choice of attending one game fair in Northern Ireland it would be Shanes Castle though it would be nice to see the simulated coursing brought back to the Game Fair.

When we kept lovebirds a few years back I always reckoned the black masked were a fair bit quieter than the peach faced.

Fair play to you mate!!!!! It's nice when you manage a day out with no digging especially at this time of year
-
If you want to get out for a bit of ferreting, no matter what time of year it is, who gives a rip what other people think, get out there and enjoy what you love to do. Fair play to you mate!!!! bet it was great just getting out there doing what you enjoy!!!!!!!

Ireland Ferret Racing At Shanes Castle
Dazzam replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Awesome pics as always Mrs Bluebell!!!!!! Love the one of Jay.....our secret weapon for gaining new ferreting permission....how can any farmer say no when he knocks on their door to ask if it's ok to ferret their land -
Ireland Ferret Racing At Shanes Castle

Shock of the day for me was seeing Terry Turkington. I hadn't seen Terry for a few years and to think he always gives us stick about keeping racing lurchers and there he's breeding racing ferrets......chancer!!!!!! Rumour has it that he had a litter of kits for sale at £10, after the ferret racing the price shot up to £25, sired by ferret racing champion......gangster!!! -

Forgot to add that every child who watched or participated went away with something. Many thanks to Graham and Nicky for making up Ferret Cones filled with all sorts of sweets and goodies to keep them happy and hyper throughout the day . Can someone put a pic of them up as they were first class.
