  1. There have been non ped pups brought in from England with a fair amount of greyhound blood in them. These pups didn't make anywhere near 23" in height and to be truthful couldn't compete with the dogs that were winning the under 23" racing, sorry if that offends anyone, but its the truth. The owners of these dogs ought to know better than to race them with the whippets, but then again it's an easy rossette. THESE NON PEDS/LURCHERS SHOULDN'T BE RACED WITH THE WHIPPETS. When greyhounds are mated to whippets and non ped whippets the pups can be all sorts of heights and weights. If there were enou
  2. I hope you support it! Anyone got a lurcher over 8 years old in great condition who can lend me it for a day
  3. Awesome!!!!! Great idea Albert!!!! Now, who suggested that one???
  4. storm was the sire of colt but if you have not read the countrymans weekly you probably would not know who storm was.i wouldnt say he was famous thou According to one dictionary "famous-known about by many people". I never seen the countrymans weekly article but i have heard and read much of Storm. Looking back over the years i cannot think of another dog with as little greyhound blood in it as Storm that won an All Ireland racing champion title, but i may be wrong on that one. i bet you know John but if you did,nt none of the things you read about storm would have stook in your mind

  6. Albert, if there was enough interest for a class for any type of lurcher dog over 8 years of age or similar would it be put on. There are lots of older lurchers which attend the shows, but are not entered, or are left at home as they don't stand a chance against the younger dogs. Just an idea.
  7. Storms breeding from memory is greyhound/borzoi/irish terrier. Anyone even questioning his breeding doesn't know too much about lurchers in Northern Ireland. Storm is probably one of the most famous lurchers ever to come from Northern Ireland, an absolute legend who continues to live on in his offspring. China's breeding, whippet/greyhound has been questioned before. As Albert has rightly stated she has raced at lurcher shows all over the UK and Ireland.
  8. Albert, just a suggestion for the Gamefair at Shanes Castle. Would it be possible to have a showing class for the lurchers for the older dogs say any lurcher over 8 years of age as the older dogs are not catered for at any of the shows. Just a suggestion. Many thanks

  9. Went to the Gamefair at Ballywalter on Sunday. For me it was one of the biggest turnouts i have seen at a lurcher event in Northern Ireland for a number of years. It also seems that whippets are on the up compared to previous years. As usual you will always have those who have their complaints. Albert has said that changes may be made for future events that he is involved with to make them better and bigger, even to the point of stating that if the Mid Antrim Terrier and Lurcher Club are not in a position to cope then something may need to change. There are terrier and lurcher folk from Northe
  10. Does the terrier/lurcher racing begin before or after the showing? Many thanks.
  11. Is it the Mrk3M or just Mrk 3
  12. Many thanks folks for all your help. Got sorted.
  13. Hi folks, does anyone have or know of anyone who would allow me to use their whippet dog to put over a whippet bitch. It must be a full whippet and of working strain, though it doesn't have to have papers. Give me a text on 07921864859. Many thanks. Daz.
  14. Folks, anyone use one of the Cyclops lamps for lamping? If so what do you think of them?
  15. Good on you Diggermad . There are some absolute plonkers on this site. All the very best with the kits.
  16. DAZZAM, As I said before this is a cheaper entry fee than any of the other sports. I don't show my golden retrievers other than at the club show because they are working dogs. But I put an entry in the other day because I am President of the club. It cost £10 for the class and the only prizes on offer were rosettes! However I took your concerns to the club and we negotiated an agreement for 2011 but I will return to this for 2012. It may be 'old fashioned' but I believe that when I give my hand to something I can't change it. What I was trying to do was to negotiate a good deal OVERAL

  18. 5 euro is just over £4.30. Rip off. Is there any other lurcher show in the UK and Ireland that charges this amount to enter a lurcher into any of its show classes?
  19. Every lurcher enthusiast i have spoken to, everyone without exception, have all complained about the price for entering their lurchers for showing. The majority of those who attend the lurcher shows have more than one dog, some have three or four dogs and others have more. Most of those who support the show enter their dogs into more than one class so you can appreciate the lurcher folks annoyance over the cost to enter their dogs for showing. It is the cost for entering each dog in each show class that people are not happy with. The MAWT&LC need to look at the prices THEY are charging. I'
  20. It comes across to me that quite a few people have issues not so much with Albertj but with the Mid Antrim Working Terrier and Lurcher Club and the prices they are charging. Maybe a representative from the club itself ought to come on and defend the prices they are charging.
  21. One of my jills every now and again mothers the others dragging them back to the bed and she is only 9 months old. As it has already been said they will soon sort themselves out.
