  1. If its a MK3M collar it should have come with a magnetic key.
  2. Managed to get out this afternoon for a couple of hours spinning on one of my local reservoirs. Weather was atrocious but it was nice to get out and managed to land a few brownies. Two of the better ones caught are shown below. Put them all back bar one which i'll have for dinner tomorrow. ATB Daz
  3. Can't understand why anybody would either remove the teeth or even put muzzles on ferrets when out ferreting . My opinion is just pack it in and take up another hobby.
  4. Sometimes if you put him in the same vicinity with a jill that has come into season they'll drop overnight. I borrowed my mates hob last year and his hadn't dropped at all but being with the jill just a couple of hours they dropped
  5. I have just the 3 jills myself. A few mates are looking to use him but it looks as though mine will be used to test if the vet has done it right. Bottom line is if mine have litters i'm telling them anyway that the vet done it right and then laugh at them when theirs have their kits.
  6. That was one of the questions the vet asked me. I'm led to believe it can still be done if they haven't dropped but it makes the operation that bit easier if they have already dropped.
  7. I paid £78 to have mine done yesterday. They quoted £60 but then said that they'd made a mistake and had quoted me the price for a castration by mistake. When i went to pick him up none of the nurses would handle him as he had bit the vet in fact when they opened the recovery cage they scrambled to get out of his way and i as cool as you like picked him up, gave him a pet and put him into his carrying box. He's going to be busy in a few weeks time as he's got 8 jills lined up already. Just hope they've done it right or i'm in trouble
  8. You still only carry 10 nets and a ferret these days, you leave me to carry the longnets ,locators spade and tbar, the rest of the ferrets and everything else you chancer. And speaking of medical science i hope they can develop a new titanium spine soon cause youv'e wrecked mine with all the carrying i do out ferreting with you Titanium.......you're having a laugh......more like brass to go with your neck
  9. With all the gear nowadays and if its a big catch you need a quad or just bring along "vermin catcher"
  10. It's only in recent years that its fairly common to use jill jabs, vasectomy, castration etc. Even when i was growing up things like a complete ferret meal was unheard off. Not only has the technology/gadgets improved our ferreting but as medical science is developed it has impacted how we can care for our ferrets. When we first ferreted years ago it was with one ferret, no locator and you were lucky if you had 10 nets, and they were all sorts of shapes, sizes and materials. They were great old days when you'd maybe walk twenty miles for a days hunting, coming back with half a dozen rabbits yo
  11. As someone has already said just perservere with the collar, she'll soon get used to it...and you don't have to wait until you take her out working....you can get her used to wearing a collar before you take her out. You may need a hand until you get comfortable with putting the collar on at first as some ferrets can struggle a fair bit in the hand. As for liver even when my ferrets eat the liver from rabbits their dung is a lot looser and runnier. If you're struggling to get raw meat for your ferret chicken wings are cheap alternative. ATB
  12. Collars, string and bonding........?
  13. Think you're on the wrong forum mate. This forum is for folk who work ferrets and not people who are into kinky relationships with their ferrets.
  14. Had a look on the Advance Netting website. What netting do you order for making longnets as it's a bit confusing unless you're familiar with all the terminology. Many thanks.
  15. I reckon the two adjusting screws that are marked in the red circles below are used for calibrating the locator but i'm only guessing so PLEASE DON'T GO MESSING AROUND WITH THEM JUST IN CASE I'M WRONG AND I GET LOADS OF PMS SAYING I'VE MESSED UP YOUR LOCATOR. Can anyone put us in the right direction if this is correct.
  16. There are two screws also where the battery goes. Take the battery out and you should see them. They are under the battery sticker, top right and left hand corners in the battery compartment. I had the back off mine earlier and was having a wee nosey around. Think i may have found the two adjusters for calibrating it. I'll put a pic up tomorrow. There's bound to be someone on here who knows a bit about electronics.
  17. My Mk3 is a bit out until i get down to pin pointing in the last 2 feet or so. It seems to be approx 1 ft out ie if its reading 5ft the ferret is approx 4ft away. The only issue i had with mine was i left the locator on for a few weeks and it wouldn't work at all so i changed the battery and still nothing happened. I left it in my pocket switched off for an hour or so and then tried it again and thankfully it was fine. Don't know why it wasn't working after being left on for a few weeks, maybe due to something overheating as during that time it would have been searching for a signal. I was goi
  18. Just to put this myth to bed. I was bored earlier and i have this jill polecat which is a great wee worker. I have spent all morning dying her coat so she is now an albino/dew. I'm going to get her out for a few hours tomorrow and i'll let you know how she gets on
  19. I tried one of these on my Clulite. It runs the secondary bulb ok but when switched onto the halogen bulb it cuts out. I'm guessing there is a thermal cut out switch when the drain gets a bit high but thats just a guess
  20. Got to be one of the worst games i've seen in a while. Well done England on their win. I think todays game is an example of why the northern hemisphere teams have a long way to go to be beating the all blacks on a regular basis. England will have to up their game to beat Wales at Cardiff.
  21. Just watched the youtube clip above and it makes you want to go out and beat the English like a drum. They should show this clip in the Irish dressing room before the teams go out onto the pitch, that would be enough to get the blood boiling. Hope it's a great game with the Irish coming out on top.
  22. Brilliant news mate!!!!!!!! Bet you were smiling like a chesire cat!!!!! Over the moon for you.....there'll be no holding her back now!!!!!!
  23. Usually neat and careful at the beginning of the day but untidy and careless as the day wears on
  24. It always encouraging to see young ferrets bolting bunnies
