first thing I thought was dirty barrel but cleaned it out and had same result, everything is still tight and barrel free floating, its not every shot, i'll have 3 or 4 in a tidy group but then one hit about an inch higher or lower than the rest its strange like, its not just me as the same was happening with the gun in a fixed position -
I've been using hornady v-max bullets in my .17 and I was getting tidy grouping about an inch or so at 100 yards, I have had 2 boxes now that I can't get the group under 2" ? could it just be a dodgy batch? and what bullets does everyone else use?

still hard to get my head around the fact the duke bet his aya and my grandad only bet a bikal single barrel its just a good story about a true friendship where money had no influance not bothered about there difference in socioty i remember going to the pub as a kid with my grandfather in our landrover and the duke driving a beat up old series 3 so that he fitted in with everyone, they where both very good men both in the feild and at heart

that how its going to be passed from generation to genaration its in our blood to hunt and hopefully always will be along with our lurcher blood line, so anyone who has a lurcher with fly fach blood in it have a story to go with the blood line

bloody hell jammy sod my grandad was will never forget the story of how he came to own this gun. or what we where always told. there is a estate near us that has red deer and roe deer , my grandfather was frends with the duke and was the game keeper, there was a big red deer stag on the estate that there deer hounds could not catch was to clever for them would see them coming and would be gone no where to be seen, and they made a bet that the person who catches the deer gets the other mans gun, not with much to loose my grandfather accepted the bet and the only rule was the deer must nnot

my grandfather left me his aya no.1 when he passed away, was just wondering roughly how much she is worth, she is in great condition not a mark on her i have perrsonally only used her once, no real wear on the bores or mechanisms ect tells me she was only used a hand full of times, i have no intention of selling her but would be nice to know how much she is worth atb joe

joe perthigwynion replied to the big chief's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
don't have any pics of him but i had a bull lurcher called rip for my first lurcher born 08/10/98 was a brilliant dog very intellegent dog that would take any quarry and was still soft mouthed with rabbits and hares, he was 28" tts was a brilliant child hood companion that i will never be able to replace sadly past away last winter -

joe perthigwynion replied to joe perthigwynion's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs

out lamping tonight (young dog)
joe perthigwynion replied to joe perthigwynion's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
na got away with it because they need a warrent to conduct any servailence on private land or the land owners premission which they certainly did not have as its my bloody land so i kicked up a storm about that and managed to get out of it scott free, what a waste of money having a helicopter watching someone running a dog when they could be doing something usefull like trying to find my quad when it was stolen -
out lamping tonight (young dog)
joe perthigwynion replied to joe perthigwynion's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
only had one run then a police car turned up been down the police station for a hour :@ bloody police helicopter had nothing better to do than to watch me run the dog on a fox surly he could go and try finding someone who is actually causing trouble, good run none the less no hessatation and only come off with a light peppering -
oh dont get me started on how addictive hunting is i'm currently looking for premission with bigger warrens on it, this is the reason for making myself more nets now in the long winter nights that are not suitable for lamping, but no one will take a youngster like me seriously so i'm struggeling with getting premission.

pre baiting a spot before u lamp it
joe perthigwynion replied to barry lurcher's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
i live on a farm and we have to wait a few days intill the local hunt comes to collect the sheep carcuses we tend to lamp over them for those few days and the lurchers tend to get good runs ( some foxes eat so much in one go the dogs can catch them just trotting ) hope this helps atb joe -
