  1. What a great offer! Sure someone will help, maybe find a contact you can continue to use on future farm jobs! Smiles all round!
  2. Clarky 1997 is obviously new and looking to seek advice for working his terrier, advice/help we all need to begin with and as I did starting out ferreting many years ago when alot of my information/knowledge came from this site! Quoting his post 'HELP ME!!' Bigdog as a donator to this site your reply seems a bit contradicting.. Give the lad a break and let's keep this site the great informative source it is to those with an interest in fieldsports.. This site is priceless for the advice gained from those who have been there and done it, who can pass on their knowledge!
  3. All the information you need is pinned at the top of this forum started by IanB.. Good read too..!
  4. I've just got my first terrier pup I've only ever had a lurcher. All depends what work you want to do with her? As i only plan to use mine on rats the advice I've been given is to wait till he's got his adult teeth.. He'l be bushin rabbits for my bitch before then. Im no expert a mere newby but i think you could be takin her for a look and a sniff now.. What's her breeding? As you said pup..
  5. I remember a few years ago watching terriers ratting on a farm and it was a great buzz for the dogs and all those involved when you consider the damage they were causing to the workshops! Highly looking forward to it..!! Thanks for your advice, just my luck the first one will be the biggest, my whipx's first catch was an hare walking th fields when she was only 11month!
  6. I've got a 3/4 jrt 1/4 staff pup only 3months, I'm lookin forward to gettin out bushin with him for the whipxgrey in the near future then hopefully move him onto rats when he's over a year old as a friend has 2 industrial size chicken sheds! As my game has never bit back whats the worst that can happen from your own experiences when out ratting! My grew might even get involved if she chooses as she's pretty hard mouthed on rabbits I think she might take to em..
  7. Right the mrs is driving me mad wanted another do (a terrier).. As the dogs are in the house kennellimg splitting etc isn't an option I'm not for the idea of housing two bitches but what are thoughts on a male jack russel with my whipx bitch? One spayed the other chopped?
  8. Thanks for all replies, the idea of housing two bitches together one being a terrier is looking like a no no due to the gameness of the terrier I fear that the whipx being submissive may not be enough for the terrier to back down and just isn't worth the risk.. Thanks for all advice as it's prob saved me alot of possible future problems and given me alo to think about. Fantastic site this! Great members too!
  9. Looking like some mixed views here. The advice given on sites about introducing a second dog into the home is that it's best for the dogs to be of a good age gap with three years being minimum.. I think we'l all agree that when the pat matures shes likely to be the boss (after me!!) over the whipx
  10. Thanks for your reply.. Thers loads of theories on which paired sex's are best, tho there's no better advice than that from those who have been there done that with the experience of it. That's why this forum is just whats needed for some sound advice.
  11. Hi, I've currently got a whipxgrey bitch that's four years old which gets on brilliantly with two other separate border terrier bitches and I'm planning on also getting a pat terrier bitch puppy myself that I've viewed. I'm looking for some advice and of any experience youve had really as to keeping two bitches living together. What I've read is that this paired sex (2females) are most likely to fight given the chance as the pup matures..! I plan on spaying both together as soon as poss which can help as i don't plan to breed either. Can anyone tell me of their experiences of housing two b
  12. Still here and still for sale if ya interested.. It's pick up only in Wigan.
  13. Thanks for your replies I sent my cv to pestokill last nite and asked for it to be kept on file incase a vcancy arises within a suitable travelling distance of my area.. Il continue sendingmy cv to compnies and keep my fingers crossed! God loves a tryer..
  14. Hello thanks for all the responses, all links have been followed up but to no avail it's looking like I would need to move house at this rate to ever get a chance to apply to the few vacancies out there.. I've also emailed my local council to ask for advice. I've found a few companies in my area which only have telephone numbers and no emails. In your opinions as already established pest controllers if you were rang out of the blue, what could I say to make me different from all the other calls and stand out without being oh just another one wanting a job and being blanked. All I want is the b
  15. Cheers for the link hound but again all 3hours plus away to travel not even thinkable and alot are old adds but I will keep checking it.. Thanks!
  16. Thanks for the replies, mat if you look at the frequently asked questions it's also my thread. I have good grades and can prove myself in many situations I have dealt with. I recently applied to a vacancy in chester offering in house training sending my best cv to date but was told it would be too far for me to travel as they were cutting down on fuel cost even though I was prepared to commute the distance. I shall bookmark the forums you said and look for other chances and thanks for a push in the right direction.
  17. This may get removed but I'm going to try anyway!! I'm finding it very hard to get into this occupation as vacancies are always too far to travel. I don't really want to spend £1500 on the rsph course and have no experience to start out myself. I'd lke to ask if theres any pest controllers in the north west of England looking to employ or give experience to myself 22 yr old male very genuine and struggling to get into this occupation. I live in Wigan and willing to travel a 30mile radius. Many many thanks if you can help.
  18. For all those that replied I want to inform that the above lump has been removed due to the speed it grew and lack of loose skin available on the leg to allow enough skin to be able to stitch the cut up before it got any bigger. The lump was sent away and forgive for not being able to remember the name but it was cancer, fortunately one that doesn't spread and I caught it early enough in size to be able to remove the whole lump leaving enough skin to stitch the cut up before needing skin grafts and have been told there's a one in ten chance of it returning so fingers crossed
  19. I noticed it yesterday and its hard to touch but the skin holding in the fluid seems thin. I'm going to leave it for a few days see if it goes down or she chews it herself to pop it. just seeking advice and idea's as to what it is. Its on the inside of her front leg. Thanks
  20. Has anyone ever seen this before or have any ideas what it could be? Photo's attached.
  21. is it any wonder there's cowboy pest controllers when they want £1200-£1500 for the rsph course!!

  22. like i say, its only ever been used once and put away hence the dried mud off the wheels all over the floor oops.. and we had around 7 runs out of the battery before it started to get low and i mean big runs because theres a LOT of string on the spool, the battery can always be changed for one of better quality if ya chose to do so. £200 is quite a bit of money but i know the going rate of these and know a setup like this is priced to sell and not easy to come by..
  23. a few more pics, this has been put on at heat of the moment and will be cleaned and serviced before collection.
  24. i have for sale my lure which can be seen in fully working order it has switch, brake, battery, string, skin, wheels, handle etc etc everything you'll need to bring a pup on or keep your dog/s fit.. its pick up only, i'm in Wigan and looking around £200 its only ever been used once.. i'l get back to any replies pm's soon as i can. cheers.
