  1. Caught on a North County Dublin beach. Had a couple of nice bass from this beach.
  2. There could be some way back, definitely a look of bull blood off him but fella I got him off doesn't know of it so it's way back in the breed somewhere if it's there.
  3. Anyone looking for a ratting/bushing terrier to cover a bitch. I'm only want to use him to make sure his breeding is out there as I don't keep a breeding bitch at home, and I'd hate if something happened him and I'd none of his lineage around at working homes. All I'd want is a pup back from the litter or a future litter from his breeding. He's patterdale x border/Russell. Excellent finding, marking digging rats. Very good bushing, flushing from cover, barks on scent fur and feather. Not a digging dog, doesn't go to ground. See him working in any of my posts. Plenty of videos
  4. My guess is badger, you can get badger setts on river banks. Give it a wide berth.
  5. Weather will play a big factor here, getting fox in holes. All you can do is put the miles in, walk the fields, woods, ditches, stone walls etc....... You will have some success, a terrier that be be hunted off the lead will improve your chances.
  6. Some are very quick to condemn a dog. I'd agree with Corkman. Give young dog time and select their opportunities so that they will have every chance of getting a successful dig.
  7. Bring him to areas that hold rats, he'll do the rest and he'll learn and get better as he goes.
  8. Patterdale x border/Russell but I think there could be some bull in the breeding way back.
  9. Good days mooching with the bobbery pack. 4 rats got and few slips for the lurchers.
  10. Out today got two rats from 3 marks. All bolted as we dug but one got awsy. Found two dead raptors in same wood, not nice to see and a dead hare just outside the wood.
  11. Imo two types suitable for rock piles, a dog capable of killing it's fox quick or one that can be called out after a time if the fox won't bolt. Personally I'd prefer one that can be called out cos even a killer could end up being stuck in a pile for a long time. Definitely there's a dog for every type of situation. Some land in Ireland is really undiggable so a terrier that can't kill or be called away is no use.
  12. But he does me just fine. He's a rabbit rat dog bit of mooching and odd lamp.
  13. Whippet/bull x collie/hound but I'm not sure of the % in the breeding....was potentially a great dog but s bad leg break in his second full season ment he's never been at his best.
  14. Only farm I have with any numbers on it. Most of the local populations been decimated by RHD. Good lamping is hard to find. We got a good few slips but other nights I've been out locally and got one maybe.
  15. got 3, more got away, few good slips, near misses and couple of "how'd they miss that?"s..... but considering we'd a young inexperienced bitch and a middle aged cripple doing the chasing we was happy enough.
  16. Good days mooching. Got 7. Good scent work from the dog to follow scent and find burrows, good marking. Rats I get are country rats, not easy to find.
  17. Once mature, once a day, at night.
