  1. I'm sure being a scruff didn't affect her working ability I want my next dog to look like the old pup to see if i can resist the urge to keep it looking spotless (i'm a dog groomer )
  2. Never seen one running, round here they follow me when i take my dog out for a walk so about 4mph
  3. Two lovely looking pups mate Have always fancied a merle and i like the breeding, best of luck with it and looking forward to more pics
  4. Thought i'd post this up in case anyone was looking for a day out SNH Terrier/Lurcher Show and Straight Racing. Sunday 31st July to be held at Long Eaton Showground, Breaston, DE72 3BB. Qualifiers for Bull X and Entered Terrier for the Earth Dog Running Dog. NL&RC finals Chatsworth. Pride of the Peaks Hartington and Heart of Wales. For both Terriers and Lurchers. Racing to start at 9.00am
  5. Stick to one brand of food, put the bowl down for say 10 minutes then remove it (even if she's not eaten it). Wait until next feed time and do the same. She will soon learn to eat when the bowl goes down or she loses it. I've never ever known of a dog starve itself to death, she's just playing you mate to see if you offer something she thinks is better. When she works out that it's all she's going to get then she will eat it. Oh and don't give her any treats so she has an apetite when her food is put down
  6. Put my Chihuahua dog over her, there's more money in it from them
  7. I'm thinking he means they're getting in the water bowl
  8. Argos, adjustable height feeding bowl stand including 2 metal bowls, about £12, i got one and it's a decent weight so dogs dont knock it over
  9. Only one i know of is on Sunday (24th) Fawnhope working dog show - Herefordshire HR1 4PE Not sure how far away from you that is.
  10. Can't advise you on the hunting side as this will be my first season too. As far as training goes, short 10 minute sessions are best, vary the different commands once you are sure the dog knows each one and keep him interested. If you spend too long training the dog will get bored, if he can't grasp what it is that you want and you start getting irritated then leave it til another day. Always end on a good note and make it fun for the dog. You got til around September to work on training so no need to rush it all in a week. Best of luck
  11. But they have ways round the emergency dog that has just eaten. If a stray dog gets run over and needs emergency surgery, no owner to ask when it's last eaten, they assume it has just fed and give meds accordingly so they can do what needs to be done. There's always pro's & con's to any choice, you have to weigh up the odds and decide what works for you and that any benefits outweigh the risks
  12. If my pup takes to it you never know but i may be up there next year giving you a run Started her at Old Hall last month and she did well for a 1st attempt, now i got transport sorted i'll be able to put more time into getting her going.
  13. Your right Casso but i've never had a problem, if i have anything to offer my dogs from my hand (even thier own dry food) they are very keen and responsive in order to get it from me , makes no difference if it's end of the day and they aint eating from the bowl any more. Whatever i have for them holds more value than whats in the bowl
  14. I'd also make sure his recall is good, no point trying to teach a dog to hunt if you spend hours trying to find/catch it when you let it loose
  15. I have free fed with dried food for about 5 years now. You need to keep an eye on the dogs and make sure they are all eating (appetite loss isn't so easy to spot if a dog's sickening for something). I've never had any problems with dogs getting too fat or being possesive over the food but it all depends on the dogs you have and whether this works for them or not, only you can know that mate None of mine are greedy and i definately think it stops them being food possesive unless they have a treat or a toy. Mine have food available from 9am - 7pm every day as they live indoors so it k
  16. bratton if you want a good home for the pup then DO NOT sell it to this tw*t Besides which your pup is male and Terrierman is only interested in bitches so he can breed the life out of them for £££££'s
