  1. Similair story,my dad was looking after my lurcher for a couple of weeks, one day he had a knock on the door,he opened it to see a SSPCA [sCOTLAND] inspector who told him he'd recieved a complaint from a member of the public that the dog was out in all weather,it was basically being neglected. Well my dad who can be a right wild fecker when he gets riled asked the SSPCA man who put the complaint in.Why do you want to know?asked the inspector, because I'll go round to his house and knock his feckin head off replied dad. Can't tell you 'cos it was an annonymous tip off.Well when
  2. I've used Pancure liquid for years and found that it does the job, works out really cheap if you buy a litre at a time-£55.
  3. my mate has a m reg astra van,he's in dumfries.
  4. Jimmy does get a bit excited when I give him the spade.
  5. Jimmy and I went out early doors with the 2 jills,we ended up with 8 rabbits but it was hard going with a bit of digging as we came across 2 nests of young kits. The pics show Jimmy in action with the spade.
  6. I came across a couple of nests holding kits last sunday when I had the jills out. I think it's fair to say you could come across kits at anytime of the year.
  7. 11.5ft/lb most of the shots were between 20-30 yards a big part of air rifle hunting for me is stalking the quarry,to see how close I can get to it.
  8. You can't beat starting them young, your brother looks like he enjoyed himself which is the most important part, well done.
  9. I had a walk out with my Falcon Hawk before it got dark and this was the result, I think the wind helped to mask any noise that I might have made which let me get well within range.
  10. Here's my air rifles a Falcon Hawk with a Walther 3-9x44 scope and an Air Arms S410 with Tasco 3-9x50 scope.

    Ferret

I understand what you are on about stubby regarding in season jills but have to say i've never had a problem with them if they remain in season all summer and i've had ferrets for a few years. To be honest I think it's a bit of an old wifes tale. King ratcatcher,i'd recommend getting another jill to keep you're jill company.
  12. She's a crackin' looking bitch,i've no doubt the rabbits will get a hard time of it when she's a bit older.
  13. Was told this story a few years ago,it's about longnetting in the pre mixy years. Four brothers, all experienced netters went out one night when there was a serious blow on,having had numerous drops with much success they called it a night with ninty nine and a half couple [199] rabbits. Well one of the brothers was a bit peeved that they were 1 short of 100 couple, the rest however told him they were finished for the night. The van was loaded and off they went home with the disgruntled brother driving. It wasn't long before the other brothers had dozed off.On the way a rabbit ran across the r
  14. Practice makes you better get out there and do it,it's not as hard as some try to make out.
  15. I wouldn't run the dog either, have heard of and seen lads in the same position making their dogs sick using soda crystals then running them.
  16. Had 37 in 130 yards and 33 in 140 yards on seperate nights. But the other night two of us set 200 yards and drew a blank That's longnetting for you.
  17. Hi Beagle here are some pics of one of my ferret boxes,it is 20 years old it might give you some ideas if you want to fine tune your box. The sloping lid lets the rain run off it,the lid should also cover the top of the sides so no rain gets in. The strap is an old car seat belt. A piano hinge is the best hinge to use. Must say Beagle it's a great effort, well done.
  18. About 7 years ago after a really wild night my mate Billy,on going to feed his 2 jill ferrets was met by an empty hutch, the wind having blown the lid up during the night. We looked for them both during the day and at night without any joy. As Billy lives next to a busy main road we feared the worst. At least 2 months later Billy arrived home from work early having been rained off,not having the house keys he was forced to sit in the land rover as the rain pelted down. Billy thought he saw a movement through the rain covered windscreen, after clearing the window he could see one of the jill ferr
  19. Well done Michael,it's great to see a youngster get the buzz when you've taken them out.Another lurcherman in the making.
  20. Rabbits for me either on the lamp or bolted by the ferrets. Mind you the dog does love a bit of variety.
  21. I have used a lazerlight and a 7amp battery for a few years now.The battery lasts between 21/2 and 31/2 hours and should be put on the charger as soon as you get home as the longer a cell remains uncharged the less chance it will take a full charge. It is a myth that animals cannot see the light through a red filter. A lot of the rabbits my dog catches are with the red filter on.
  22. Have to agree with most of the replies, you get good and not so good in all sizes,it's all down to personal preference. I prefer my dogs to be medium sized, which is between 23"-26".
  23. Hi all I've just joined and am looking forward to having the crack and learning a bit from other members. I enjoy ferreting, lurchers, long netting, air rifles and fishing.I also train greyhounds which I race at the local flapping track.
