  2. Maise is a very good bait as well as hazel nuts which can be drilled then threaded on a wire and hung in the back ofyour trap.If you're using live catch traps make sure you stay within the law and have drinking water in too.
  3. I agree with sidebyside and victor. Its an australian cockroach. The 'bat' shaped markings are a dead give away.
  4. Can you please tell me which law this is which you are referring to? I only ask because I am not aware of any law which prohibits the release of rabbits? Can you explain please? its probebly under the pests act 1954 or the rabbits act 1939.Check them out but certain parts of them may have changed.
  5. Why are you asking the question in the first place are you planning to relese some rabbits or do you know some one who is doing it? I think you might find that it is illegal to release rabbits as no matter where you let them go you are still spreading a pest species on to some ones land.
  6. I hav'nt had any calls for wasps yet.Totaly over run with ant jobs though. If any one has some photos of hornets nests I would like a look at them because you don't get them up in the north east.Pharos ants are a real rarity too.
  7. I agree with what the other lads are saying. How these got legaly passed I do not know.In my opinion they are cruel and unreliable rubbish.Stick to the good old spring traps.
  8. If the problem is as bad as you say you won't get on top of it with traps. The best thing to do is what ditchshitter has advised.Get in local autority or a pro.All measures will be taken when poisons are put down, and made sure that you, your family and pets are safe from harm.If you get the council to do it,it should'nt cost you anything.
  9. If I were you I would use fenns or snap traps. At the end of the day if you are live trapping them you are going to have to humanly destroy them any way because you will be braking the law if you release them some where else.
  10. Thanks for all the replies. This is Tyke.(if I've managed to get the photo to upload)
  11. Hi All.I was just after some advice or wondering if any one has the same problem as me. I have a lakelandx russel dog,hes nearly three now.he is well trained,he sits and stays when I tell him to and is genraly not a bad dog.I use him for flushing rabbits and he's a good little ratter. My problem is that once he has got the scent of some thing he closes his ears and won't listen to a thing I say till he feels like it,he never done this when he was younger its just as he's getting older. It's realy frustrating.
  12. I Agree with Tomo. You are better off trying to get some experience with a company. There is a lot more to pest control than people think. You can not build a buisness on things that you do as a hobby because a lot of pest control work that is enjoyable can not be charged for because there is all ways some one who will do it for free,Ie rabbit shooting. And alot of rat jobs are done for free by local authoritys. A big chunk of the pest control industry is insect work which you realy have to cover to make a living, but all this work is very interesting and rewarding. Also if you get experienc
  13. Don't add any thing to mine but some times give them a light rub over with a wire brush.
  14. LIke the others have said fish is a good bait.Try putting it in a hessian sack.it will still attract flys though but a fox will be able to smell it from a fair distance.
  15. duffus for me.I have a much higher catch rate. And a lot less nicked or touched in any way for that matter.I will use scissor and talpex depending on situation but as a genaral rule duffus is the one for me.
