  12. The last place was filled for the trip. Thanks for the interest. It was a non-stop action fantastic day. We had rays, thornback, small eyed and blondes to 15lb. Conger to 40lb, smooth hounds to 14lb, a couple of bull huss and the obligatory dogfish. The Bristol Channel is fishing very well at the moment and if anyone has the opportunity to get out there I would recommend that you take it. Regards Dave

  14. Adbirdy thanks for posting the podcast link. Very interesting to know how the other half live ( hunt ). It sounds as if oz has some fantastic hunting shooting & fishing opportunities but then again the grass is always greener! Dave
  15. Have a look at fieldsports channel on you tube they had a bit on hunting rabbit with cheetah. The cat didn't look up to much, you can't beat a good hound! Dave
  16. Thanks lads, I think I'm getting a message here I will have a look at the Howa 1500. Alsone I value your opinion but I have 308 on my ticket, I just haven't got the stamina to tackle the firearms officers. Thanks all Dave
  17. Hi Dan I have a trip to South Africa booked & .308 is the minimum round required. I stalk here using a .243 I think the best chance of a clean kill is with a shot taken within 150yds. If you can't get closer than 150yds to a beast your're not stalking IMO Regards Dave
  18. An interesting tradition but as you say not efficient any more, the margins of that estuary have been fished out. Kerala outstanding natural beauty but the litter is a fcuking disgrace. Dave
  19. Hi all I'm looking to buy a.308 thinking of either a Remington 700 or steyr classic. I wouldn't want to shoot game much over 150yds any thoughts on these two rifles. Thanks Dave
