  1. Tell that to the first load I got when they managed to fly the fence and get into the freshly dug and planted veggie plot! They dont fly as such but like scottish lass said they manage to propel themselves a fair hieght just enough to clear a 4 foot fence! bird table must be a bit higher than that again and didnt honestly think they would have noticed it or realised what it was! Was I wrong or what. SL Only clipped one wing as I was told that it works best and keeps them off balanace so they just fly in circles! DS used to have loads of LS along with marans and other When we had to
  2. Darcy - you are not alone! I am most certainly not a technophobe But treated myself to and Asda MP3/4 a couple of months back, like you say no instructions, managed to get a few songs on it but too much hassel, Will be putting it on ebay i think! - Anyone out there interested
  3. Ok so along the lines of jack by the hedge you can also use trefoil garlic (look like white bluebells) the leaves are three sided hence trefoil. used it in cooking mussels once that we collected off one of the local beaches down here. Spring time trefoil garlic is everywhere get the wonderfull smell as you wander through it as well. Also used alexanders in the past as well (had loads growing where we used to live) found them a bit difficult to prepare but good none the less - bit like asparagus.
  4. come on moll you know it will get better! Ginny our youngest textured our pine bed, pine fouton, a couple of pairs of very nice high heels, her duvet bed, and Ive lost count of the numbers of slippers we have got through Shes 16 months now and appart from stealing from work tops, ripping open bin bags (when I forgett to put them out of kitchen when full) the occasional slipper stealing she is fine! Honest! But hey wouldnt be without them, 0h and watch out for the tissue box if you get a cold and leave box around! lounge looked like we had had a wedding in it she really is a right little
  5. take a look at the love blonde in the picture, great looking little lurcher, we rescued her hoping that she would fit in with out then year old collie cross, firstly they hated each other (being of totally differant personalities) secondly didnt have a clue how to chase ANYTHING - Oh bar cats!! . My mum has now homed her as what we affectionately call a granny dog! 2 years down the line she is slowly learning to chase other things but dont thing she will ever become the great hunter, someone did a lot of damage to her I think and squashed all her instincts out of her at an early age. I
  6. Ok so for a while now I have been blaming tree rats or crows for stealing the food from the table, but today I finally caught the culprit on camera! Dont know quite how she managed it as wings are clipped , but!
  7. I know, those people who think they know it all, annoy the s**t out of those of us that do....... Me I know Nufink! just try and help
  8. Congrats! from what we heard one of the important things with the 04s is the service history, due to the fact that they hold 4 litres less then newer modles? dont know how true this is, but serveral on the nivara site said that it was a big issue. May she run for another 100,000 !
  9. Thanks whoever started this post. Wow what tension, seriously stressed out bloke, but dealing with the death of a son could do that to someone I guess. Interesting that for all the townie was anti bunnies etc, she did at least learn to appreciate her surroundings and learn that there is more to life. Get the impression she will be moving to the countryside, so theres another rural property gone! Good bit off ferreting though! Did you see the face the dinner party guest pulled when she said about road kill and eating crows
  10. Cornwall started theirs today and I think a lot of private schools started this week, sounds like sense
  11. You're wrong. There are no native wild ferrets, but that don't mean ferrets don't live in the wild in the U.K. He might be refering to 'ferral' ferrets, so he might not be talking out of his ass. After a few generations without any human contact, the ferrets could be classed as wild. The Grey Squirrel is not native to these shores, nor is the rabbit, the pheasant or the brown rat, amongst others, that don't mean they are not wild animals. I've heard of people trying to tame wild polecats, but from what i've heard and read, it seems to be more trouble than it's worth. Your best bet may be
  12. Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt Halal meat where they allow the animal to die as slowly as possible to enable as much blood as possible to be removed from the meat? Not sure my ethics could stick to that, after all one of my major arguments with people who say shooting/stalking is cruel is the fact that it is instant and humane, Hope I am wrong about Halal as sounds like a good source of cheap carcases
  13. Ok was just about to put post on defending the teens. However having just read the latest post I am wondering if frank is correct? Ferrets, Where as frank ferret love and MT may make bantering jokes to each other. Your reply just shows your age, hopefully when you are a bit older you will find this post and cringe! Why do you need to have proof of what your dogs can do? sounds like testosterone talking to me!
  14. Millet read the post properly The landy is heavier on juice!! Yeh nissan was great, but with the business miles MT puts on a motor, and con rods blowing up down here at 50 + thousand didnt want to run the risk! plus spent in excess of 6 grand to fix it! If your insurance will cover it thats great, but the fully comp insurance we had with NFU didnt cover engine breakdowns. Must admit didnt ever find it rough in lower gears just like a car really. Since w/e we have heard of another 6 out of a fleet of 10 that had major problems but they were luckily still in warranty.
  15. [ An old pic of one of my first trips ou wih me Da and PTB Ok so I read the post the other day about someone lamping with feretts, but heck bringing down a deer! that takes the biscuit! How did I get into it? OK Before i met the significant other I was a country loving anit! spent lots of time out in fields but didnt really understand the finer points of it! After living with husband for year he persuaded me to try a meal that he would make. Pigeon caserole. That was it for me, he could bring home all the game he wanted! (especially if he was cooking ) progressed from
  16. Guess you dont have an 04 plated navara then! We have just got rid of ours and gone back to a Landy! thirsty on juice but great motor, that doesnt blow up between 50- thousand miles! - Just couldnt take the risk! Dont get me wrong Navara was great, but take a look at their own forum and you will see the problems that the 04 plates have
  17. giv it some lead!!!!! wow, what a useful suggestion! Give the young thing time, as others have suggested it may know there is nothing down there, definately put some tunnels and tubes in it hutch give it something to investigate, Ferrets are nosy buggers and naturally love to explore, If you have someone else local willing to go out with you that has a more experienced ferret that may also help. We nearly always take our young ones out with an adult the first few times to teach it the ropes. Happy ferreting!
  18. Ok Cupid Stunt You say that we dont understand or know the reasons for this strike, Please enlighten us all! Hopefully it is more than just the fact that Posties now have to work the hours they are paid for rather than go home early? Nice to work less hours than you get paid for. Maybe now we wont have the post holding issue going on? - For those who dont know about this little game, in the more rural areas if there are only a couple of letters to someone off the main road postie will stick these letters under his car seat and hold them for a couple of days until there are a few more to
  19. yep Ive heard of the hacksaw blade thing as well. Another thing I often use for my dogs is a good pair of surgical gloves. just plent of stroking and hadfulls of excess hair is removed! I found the hacksaw blade started to make the dogs hair course - almost split endish.
  20. patience might work rather than writing dog off! rescue lurcher that my mum adopted via me didnt know how to play, chase etc, Only took a month of being with my dogs and she love chasing and retrieving balls etc. Ok so it not a hunting dog, but it goes to prove you can teach an older dog new tricks! she is at least 4 years old! IMO working with another dog can sometimes help, but would recomend putting a rabbit skin over a dummy/ favorite toy. Will the dog retrieve toys at all? If not try playing in an area like a side ally or long hallway, so that dog goes down to the end but only pl
  21. plus watch out when you buy player, it is assumed that you must have a TV to want a DVD player! pay via debit card or fill in home details on registration card and you end up with TV liscensing on your doorstep demanding entry to search house for an unliscensed TV!! Havent had TV for 15 years now and still get the phone calls!
  22. What is the matter with you? Can you not give a civil answer to a simple question? Well I could be wrong, but I would imagine the reason MT said that was probably because A. This person shouldnt be asking this type of question if they are experienced because they would know that you dont go blasting at foxes at 300m unless you are at the least a very competant shot or irrisponsible. - the answer to that question would be ' any riffle that he could consitantly put every round into a 2" circle. @300metres' B. He says he bought a gun and imediately stripped it down and put it back t
  23. Have you checked his teeth? our vasectomised hob is getting on a bit, we have had to put him on softer food now as his teeth are almost non existant, seems happy enough but just a differant diet. Might be worth you having a check, also if yours are feed on carcasses , make sure no small bones lodge across roof of mouth or anywhere like that!
  24. Think I would just keep an eye on them, if there is no major blood letting than would imagine it is more a case of them playing and working out the hierarchy of they family. But as soon as one of them becomes withdrawn or goes off their food then maybe you need to be thinking of other options, maybe a second sleeping area or as a last result segragation, it would be a shame though as ferrets do love to have company.
  25. Hi there! our girls also get feed on a mix of dry and fresh meat, they love both bunnies go in whole tethered to stop them takeing them to bed!!! by the next day the rabbits have been striped from inside and all that usually remains is the legs and head
