  1. On the news this morning goverment clampdown on racism in football camerons words were we will not sweep this under the carpet. Shame they didnt have the guts to go public on the rochdale paedos dual standards or what.
  2. Ever seen a photograph that made a real impact on you, the one that made me think was entitled earthrise taken by william anders on christmas eve 1968 while orbiting the moon. As in the title it shows the earth rising on the horizon of the moon, complete reverse of what we see. Also makes you think just how vunerable this planet is. Any photos made a similar impression on you.
  3. If mine was a car it would be a bloody model T ford.
  4. Land i hunt has patches of brambles ect and ditches with overgrown patches of grass and bramble. Not having a terrier, when my lurcher or whippet marks i get in with a good pair of boots and a stick and flush them myself. Its great to watch my dogs position themselves for the bolt and see how they work as a team, best ive done like this is 6 i frequently blank but great sport am i the only one who does this.
  5. Your doing the same as her jumping to conclusions, i did go on to point out the facts to her about how much damage greys are doing to native bird species ect but in her case it was a bit of a lost cause.
  6. Called in the pub the other night to see a mate who is a keen fly fisherman purpose of my visit amongst other things was to give him a couple of squirell tails for fly tying. Anyway when i handed them over a woman asked him what they were, when he told her she gave me a look like i was something she had wiped off her shoe. Ooh thats evil she said squirrels are an endangered species, really i said i wasnt aware of that you sure youve got your facts right, so she pulls out her phone and comes up with the information to show me. What colour are those tails i said, grey she answered, yeh your righ
  7. Guy is a complete dick hes so hard he cant cope with life on the outside. If you hero worship people like him you need to take a good look at yourself.
  8. Solar plexus wide open aint they heard of a body blow.
  9. Given the right amount of law a fit hare isnt that easily caught, ive seen guys slip dogs on hares that have just lifted out their seat and been given about 10 yards law [not very sporting and not much of an achievment] ive also seen hares at coursing meets that seemed to take the piss out of dogs, when they hit that extra gear, those of you that remember the proper coursing meets will know what i mean. 10. Had one of this cross in the late seventies, yes she was a useful dog not a world beater, but a lot better than some of the crosses doing the rounds today. She was a single handed fox dog hard mouthed as hell on the right quarry, but took the bunnies with ease on the lamp. Only problem if you are planning to breed this cross is you dont see that many of the old style racy working labs that used to be about, more like barrels on legs these days. Certainly a cross worth considering, YIS KIC
  11. The yanks view themselves as the international police, or should i say militia, our goverment kowtow to the americans, who have yet to realise that they are in a no win situation, Name any one who has won a guerilla style war, and dont forget who armed them when they went under the name of mujahadeen.
  12. Bill oddie, and those two twats jedward, they look like the sons of the f*****g judderman in the old metz advert.
  13. Times must be hard, hes been cautioned with shoplifting at tescos, stealing wine and cheese, cant believe hes that skint.
  14. Used to hear a lot of tales about eddie jones dog celt never saw it run, anybody seen it work and was it any good.
  15. Dont discount saluki blooded dogs ive a saluki whippet that does the job very well, shes taken in excess of 1500 rabbits in her 5 years, great nose on her and intelligent, cold weather dosent bother her, and lightening quick off the mark. Anyway good luck with your choice.
  16. Not a good idea mate sibling rivalry will rear its head, can give you a bit of grief when training.
  17. Yes some of them can and do , but it wouldnt be my choice of weapon. and contrary to popular belief you dont need a bull x.
  18. Had both types and both can do the job, look at the type of ground you are running, collie greys have the edge on the bigger fields, for a ferreting companion beddy whips take some beating. Beddys ive had took more effort to train than a collie grey. But the choice is yours good luck.
  19. Pub i use doesnt mind dogs, god help the place if they banned them . I take my two lurchers in. my mate takes his lurcher and whippet in, various assortment of other dogs make an appearance. We keep the old guys supplied with rabbits and pheasants. Ive picked up some decent permission in pubs, theres no music in the place just the sound of dominoes being shuffled, and decent intelligent banter, and the usual pisstakes, also real ale, a proper pub as pubs used to be and nearly always busy, thats a rarity these days. Hope that part of our culture doesent get eroded like so many other things have
  20. Dont knock emmerdale its the only fresh air some of the members on here get.
  21. At least your honest mate nice looking dog could be an asset but a lot of work required good luck.
  22. Seen a few threads on here lately where guys have stated that their dogs are treated as tools of the trade and dont want to get too attached to them for fear of the heartache of losing a dog. But can you get the best out of a dog if you dont get a strong bond with your dog. I know that gut wrenching feeling of losing a dog at its prime through some tragic mishap while lamping, but i doubt you can get the best out of a dog if you dont commit to forming a strong bond, some will disagree whats your take on the subject. 23. Incredible footage on last night of a wolf taking on a bison finished up one wolf singlhandedly fighting to the death, result could have gone either way. Dont mind paying for a tv license when you get a programm of that quality.
  24. Im pretty sure most of you guys like myself have had times when lamping when you could have come unstuck. Heres one of mine, me and a mate had planned a shine one night, anyway last minute he rings up cant make it for some reason. So i thought ill go on my own, place i was lamping is flat land and pretty remote, if any of you guys know hempholme youll know what i mean, weather was cold and quite breezy. Had to walk about a mile from the car, anyway couple of rabbits later, the wind gets up to something like gale force, starts to snow and lightning flashing away, by now snows coming in horizont
