    When i was racing whippets in the70s early 80s most dogs were dual purpose, racing and coursing the yardstick then was not height but weight most dogs around the 32lb mark were cabable of taking hare, rabbit ect as for turning faster dont think so, 16lb dogs were never as quick as a 32lb dog they were the racing weights in those days YIS KIC

    Having read some of the old poaching books of the victorian era.And being old enough to have been in contact to the old school poachers between the 1920 to 1950s era and listen to their exploits.     One for the guys who run more than one dog, great feeling when your dogs get to that level of understanding that they work as a perfect team, you know stuff that you cant train them to do.     Intresting reading here so many different views, fact is the ban almost deserved to come in because of the lack of unity in different aspects of fieldsports produced the end result.     Problem with this country is all down to the fact that it is being run by a bunch of spineless public schoolboys. Why do they listen to the rulings of the european court, just over ride the decision and deport the scumbag, 90 plus percent want him deported isnt there any one in this goverment with the balls to ignore the rulings of the european beuracrats.

    Heard it today on bbc 1 so it must be true, day before 600 plus jobs go down the pan in this area east yorks, north lincs. So what do you reckon, political bullshit or is there a grain of truth in it. Got to admit work is coming in for me im busier now than any time in the last 3 years i run my own building buisness on a small scale, just wondered is it a regional thing generally you southern boys seem to get a better deal than us guys up north, so whats your take on this.     Greyhounds need to be muzzled by law ??? Are you sure ? I haven't heard of that law, and an awful lot of Greyhound owners up here must be breaking the law, if thats true Cheers. Was referring to the irish law mate. As far as i am aware, there is no general law in england but have been told local bylaws may come into effect, dont know how true that is.

    Prey drive is always a question , does your dog lack it or have it in abundance, do you really need that much, if you do why not run pure greys they have it, but by law need to be muzzled for obvious reasons, intense prey drive can be a costly game vet bills public liability the list is endless, usually not making old bones.     No mate only lamped or coursed rabbits ground i run i reckon that aint a bad record, guys that put up pictures of rabbits that have obviously been netted and claimed their dogs have caught them are only fooling themselves.

    Often wondered how many kills a dog makes in its lifetime, my saluki whip in 5 seasons has taken 1500 plus rabbits to some guys may sound a lot but ive no doubt some guys on here think thats nothing and may well be to their dogs kill rate, so genuine replies please. I stopped keeping records due to work commitments, but would like to hear your comments.YIS KIC.

    Enjoy a few on a weekend, mainly just to see old mates, moderation is the key, too many people are total arses when drunk, and they dont realise how boring they become. Problem with alcoholics is they cant seem to face the fact that they have a problem, weve all seen the effects of excessive drinking, broken homes loss of jobs, even death. No a few real ales on a weekend does for me, dont care if anyone thinks im a boring b*****d.

    Always on here you get the same old thing fenland hares are, [sorry] were the biggest test for a coursing dog,fens were the testing ground for a dog, well i disagree i reckon the upper ground of the yorkshire wolds was more testing for any coursing dog,. Fenland flat as a witches tit, yorkshire wolds undulating flint and chalk that could rip the shit out of a dogs feet. So where do you reckon the hardest ground is to run. Obviously certain ground requires a different type of dog but what are your experiencies of this question.YIS KIC
