Whippets are great little dogs on the right quarry, but a good lurcherman like a good tradesman would use the right tool for the job

Back in the 70s early 80s when i was racing most of the lads that were in the same club as me, with a couple of exceptions had dual purpose dogs, hunting one day racing the next never seemed to do them any harm. There was always a nucleus of smart arses in the whippet racing fraternity that dispensed stupid advice on feeding training ect. Personally i wouldnt risk my dog on chasing a rag these days, far more important things for a dog to do, but each to their own. YIS KIC,

Never thought of flapjack as a dangerous weapon, but at a school on canvey island a pupil was hit by a flying piece of it in a food fight and had to be sent home with a sore eye [diddums] no doubt will need a PTSD counseller and a health and safety officer to accompany them. Anyway the outcome is that the school has banned flapjack being cut into triangles, it must be served only in square cut pieces, apparently a 90 degree angle on the corner is considered safe, not like those nasty 45 degree points on a triangular piece. Jesus health and safety gone mad or what.

Just got in and seen the news cameron to clamp down on the problem of immigration, 29 million bulgarians and romanians that will be allowed to infiltrate our country, once eu ruling is changed. Now i dont know about you but i have little faith in a bunch of ex public schoolboys that makes up this present goverment, does cameron believe that joe public really believes his bullshit, christ i thought blair was bad enough introducing the ban , but this bunch of clowns are beyond belief. Come to think of it he aint such a bad guy, shit ive caught a touch of the U TURNS.

Always train mine to hand signals, being able to stop your dog can save its life in certain circumstances, also as a directional aid if the dog is unsighted, can help put more in the bag. YIS KIC.

Started in the game in 1967 apprentice bricky got my city and guilds, series 600 levelling surveying, and i have never known the game to be as bad as it is today. Influx of foreign workers has taken its toll, but worse than that is the attitude of the guys currently in the game, backstabbing, bribery, and double dealing is the name of the game these days, why do you need a cscs card to prove you can do the job, just another money making scam to keep another load of freeloading bloodsuckers in a job. HSE officials that turn a blind eye to foreigners that cant speak english, site managers that s

I know a guy that pulled his own tooth he got blood poisoning, started complaining of severe headaches went to hospital and they put him in an induced coma, 2 weeks later when he was released he had lost the power of speech, it took him 6 months to regain it, and now has mild brain damage. So think twice mate all this macho advice is crap.

Personally i love the explanations on the running commentary as to why the dogs look like they do. There was one dog with dreadlocks that a jamaican gangster would have given his right arm for and the bullshit reason for them was hysterical, another dog that had eyebrows like dennis healey it needs them for when its rooting in bushes or digging, absolutely brilliant best comedy on tv.

Building trade is knackered 10 years ago i was getting £300 per thou £8 a metre blockwork or £12 per hour daywork, then came our east european cousins, rates plummeted, so did the standard of work, there aint a bricky on site that hasnt had to put some of their work right. Now youve got to buy a permit to work [cscs card] construction skills certificate scam , and take a health and safety test that a trained chimp could pass. public liability insurance, retensions, hse , the list is endless. Dont ever want to set foot on a big site again, cant see it improving for a long time yet.

Was bullied in my last two years at school not by a pupil but by a complete arsehole of of an arts teacher who took an instant dislike to me and my best mate, and tried to make our lives hell. when we left school bumped into him in a local pub ffs he tried to be our best mate could see he was crapping his self. I stood at 6ft 1 and my mate dwarfed me.Funnily enough my mate said leave the bstard alone, no chance i thought couple of nights later landed a right hook to his chin as he came out of the pub bog,he never saw what was coming, made the local paper about how he had been mugged, what a lo

Great to see this result, not all politicians are europuppets like cameron, hope some sense will prevail before the floodgates open for the bulgarians and romanions.

Yeh know what you mean once got one latched on to me in a pub in beverley [nellies] typical stereotype bearded. pipe smoker, corduroy trousers, green speckley socks, jesus that guy could talk a glass eye to sleep, going on about specific gravity ect, after about 3 pints he shoved one finger in his ear, and started singing sea shantys, christ couldnt get away fast enough.

How many of you guys drink real ale, i cant stand the insipid taste of lager, stella, carling, and probably the worst lager in the world, carlsberg. Pub i use is a haven for real ale drinkers, and always busy, a rareity in these times. Thing that i have noticed is the age of some of the real ale merchants is now in the early twenties, it no longer seems to be the domain of the older generation, or that embarrasment to british culture [morris dancers] and folkies. whats your view.

First thing a lot of vets do is ask if your insured, then a lot of them will carry out needless treatment just to line their pockets. My dog had a swollen and hard teat after her season vet diagnosed mammary tumours which he could treat at a cost of £500, took a second opinion and was told it was post season swelling a course of tablets at £35 and hey presto cured.

Yesterday took the dogs for a mooch no work due to the weather, anyway walking some permission that has a public footpath running through it, dogs put up a rabbit that my lurcher took in the first ten yards. Dog brought it to hand and carried on 10 minutes later heard the sound of a chopper coming my way, it started to circle over my head and continued to follow me from about 250ft for 15 mins when i got to the road guess what i saw a police car so not having the letter of perm on me dropped the rabbit in a ditch two WPCs greeted me at the roadside, what are you doing she asked, walking the d

Fact is dog owners generally live 3 years longer than non dog owners, im 61 and fit enough to do plenty of mileage with my dogs, can still jump ditches but the landings take their toll on the undercarriage. Id go for it mate, got a friend whos 75 took a rescue dog on last year and still gets out most days. Age is a state of mind not body. YIS KIC.

I used to be a member of two coursing clubs in the legal days, old yorkshire and rydale, in those days the emphasis was on the competition between two dogs as it had been for a couple of hundred years, a kill was not the b all end all of the game, so when you hear the term 5 out of 5 ect ect, all sport in the coursing world based on kill ratio, did the sport change so much that people lost the grassroots of the game, and did it contribute to its demise, your views please.

Anything that guy does, plus all the film crew sound techs, ect, who work their nuts off, deserve the greatest respect, he always comes up trumps. Brilliant.
