    Daytime for me theres no better experience than watching your dogs using all there senses smell hearing sight and experience, thats true lurcher work i love lamping but truth is its easy game for a good dog, purely sight work, just sitting and watching a dog working cover, and ditches gives me more of a buzz.

    One of mine is ten now, she picks her runs but the heart is still there as a young un she very rarely missed now ferreting she is still the best dog of the pack great nose always in the right place for bolters theirs no substitute for experience, and she probably catches more than the rest of them, sad when you see a dog in decline, but that little bitch has a special place in my heart and when the time comes she will lay in front of the fire and dream of the glory days. That dog has done me proud and i hope for many more days out with her.YIS KIC.

    Reading this thread the fear of being branded a racist is scaring most people of telling the truth about what their views really are, i do not condone violence but i find it hard to sit back and listen to the bullshit that is being spouted .     Think that Rillington strain came from that way, they were originally earthdogs. I know a lad who genuinely uses beddys for earthwork these he keeps have fell blood in the mix. I asked him if hed ever used his digging dogs on a whippet or greyhound and he said there too small for use in producing lurchers.     Years ago when i raced whippets i had a little bitch, that was a dual purpose dog racing sundays working the rest of the time, now that dog howled like a banshee when in the traps, but ran silent when coursing, in my mind the howling was a result of anticipation the dog knew what was coming and couldnt wait for the trap to open. So i would say that tarring the breed as yappers is wrong, a lot of cases were probably entered too soon, also the beddy whippet i owned never once opened up as said beddys were always regarded as working mute.

    Its about time that the sentence for dog theft, was put on a par with kidnapping a child, they are in effect like children to some people, the heartache and anguish this causes is hard to comprehend. I know i would not be responsible for my actions if i caught one of these lowlifes trying to steal my dog.

    Always good to watch jacks programs i remember when this was first shown and it started a ressurgence of people wanting whirriers, note no locaters just old school methods. Wish we had presenters like jack nowadays, all we see now is raving antis like chris packham, craven and oddie spouting their self opinionated crap, all combined they have about one tenth of the knowledge of the countryside that jack had.     I work both of mine together during daytime, lamping is a different thing one dog at a time, its too bloody dangerous and why risk losing a dog in a pointless exercise. There is no better feeling than when your dogs become a team that works together, all the stuff that you cant train them for suddenly gels and they work as one its brilliant to watch.

    How many of you wear the poppy, i always do but it seems to me that some people seem to find it slightly embarrasing, christ knows why, ive seen a lot of young people wearing it and credit due to them for realising the sacrifice made, so that they can have the freedom of choice to do as they please. Reason i ask is this i was talking to a woman in the pub and her view was that wearing the poppy was a sign of glorification of war. Now i will listen to anyones point of view but i found that pretty disrespectful to the many that made the ultimate sacrifice , whats your view.

    Had lurchers for over 50 years 62 now seen a lot of changes and not for the better, know more than a lot of so called dogmen, less than some and still learning, and still love the game ,
