I've got 5 whippets but only the one lies like that -
Has anyone seen this race whippet?
tripletree replied to Dan McDonough's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
It's a pedigree race bred whippet going back to some old American racing pedigree lines also classic old English breeding Deepridge, but doesn't look typical probably because it's been bred for performance rather than looks nice looking dog -
If every dog by law was dna tested at birth it may be possible but I'd agree with Riohog it's probably not very accurate
-
I always thought that DNA couldn't be used to determine breeds unless it's used with a comprehensive DNA DATABASE so that the dogs that are in your dog would have to have their DNA catalogued as well. It's like if you take the DNA of a ped whippet I don't think they can determine whether it's had some non ped blood sneaked into it's ped simply by looking at the DNA only by comparing it with the DNA of it's supposed ancestors which would have to be on database as well. I may be wrong but I'd keep my money in my pocket

He's obviously an idiot who presumes so much and knows so little it sounds like a decent combination to me

coursing bred whippets??? wheres the thread gone?
tripletree replied to bigbailey's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I never seen the original thread unless it was started a good while back. But coursing with whippets started seriously (organised) early 60s with many different lines taking part over the years. Lagunas obviously (alot of sooty sam early breeding is from coursing stock), nimrodel (colonel walsh used favour this line) Moonlake from the 70s madison moonlake 3x winner nichol cup changed to moonlake in his honour, Chyton (copy press from moonlake breeding one of only two show and coursing champs other = Sound Barrier), Jimanica started from lagunas / sound barrier in 70slast winners of moonlake
