  9. hi all,i am giving away three albino ferrets, two of which are brother/sister and around 5/6 months old and unworked because they are still young, the third is around eighteen months old and has worked a bit,all three are well handled but the older jill is a bit nippy,i took on some out of sympathy due to them not being looked after properly and now am rehoming some,i am willing to travel a little if it makes it easier for someone, any interest please just let me know.
  10. it's always good to get somewhere else to go and the landowner seeing you catch them is only a good thing...
  11. we seem to be gettin the same amount on our few permissions but we never really take big numbers anyway, just enough to keep the rabbits down and the freezer stocked!
  12. usually end feb or just into march,i personally stop when i find young rabbits in the sett.
  13. hi all, just spreading my joy a little,i've just bought a 100 yard quickset longnet in basket for £40 off a mate then another friend got me some new permission for ferreting/shooting and the ground keeper put us in touch with a guy who gave me two working ferrets and a bag of purse nets and i've been given a large bag of meat for them,so i've had a good few days i think...
  14. do all and especially go with someone if you can and ask lots of questions,i've been at it for twenty years and started by goin with experienced people and now am one!doing it is the best way to learn and understand what's what, there are tips and tricks people will show you that otherwise you might never learn, like locating your ferret quickly, digging down to them safely etc...
  15. same here, every two or three days feed them egg or dog meat in morning as a treat.
  16. that's how it goes sometimes, the escapees are always sport for later and nine is a fair amount, nice ferrets aswell...
  17. good day out and sounds like your dogs worked well, the pregnant rabbits are a bad sign though...
  18. freezing them will kill anything, chop out the cyst and give that one to the ferrets.
  19. i'm sure we've all done our apprenticeship crawling through brambles etc and we are as keen as ever,it's nice to see youngs ones enjoying it and another great day by the looks of it,well done all.
  20. this is something that's been a hot debate on here recently and hopefully people are learning from these incidents,a vet is obviously the best person to look at any sick animal but seeking advice is also a surely good thing in the mean time,a balance needs to be found that perhaps comes with experience with owning/handling animals.
  21. another good read and bag,you have it pretty good!!
  22. a friend had a big hob which was doing this from pretty much when he started working at about a year old and he was fairly slow getting through a sett aswell,so i think it's in some ferrets but as for developing this later i'm unsure as i've only known that one ferret to do it(as best i can remember anyway!!)but it wasn't always a bad thing as we never had to dig to him.
  23. hi all,i have a mk1 8ft finder box which now only picks up to around 5 feet and at short distances is about a foot off(ie at 1 foot the dial is on 2 feet),can i fix this fairly simply myself or is it best left to someone who knows what to fiddle with!any help greatly appreciated.
