  1. looks are unimportant sometimes,if it's practical then it must be good yeah??...
  2. good luck but hope you know what to do with them...
  3. A useful post if the man happens to own a time machine! How old is the kit mate? If you don't have any game in the freezer, i'd get yourself a bag of decent dried ferret food to tide you over. Its handy in the summer as it does not attract flies or go bad as quick. Suppliment this with some chicken wings, lambs heart or whatever cheap meat you can get. If you can get hold of whole carcasses, i.e rabbits, birds etc, chop them into pieces and freeze them, and give the kit a piece as regular as you can. Over summer put meat in at night and take out the remains in the morn to minimize flies et
  4. offs was about to buy this myself, good luck with a great piece of kit...
  5. it's the time when flies are becoming a real pain in the arse so i found using scrim(i got from a scaffolder)if that's what you call it(it's like a mesh they use to stop stuff falling off the scaffold)over the front of my hutch keeps everthing out and off their food and away from the shit etc,so hopefully this may come in useful to someone to help keep your hutch or court fly free!
  6. should have an idea what and when to feed them well before they arrive...but basically anything you hunt should do,as often as they need it...
  7. it's better to be a bit paranoid than not give a f**k,but if only a little was licked off i wouldn't worry personally...
  8. hay is what i use,i put in a good handful and find they drag out some if there's too much and sawdust over the rest of the hutch.
  9. if you don't even know how long she will be pregnant for maybe you will be far from prepared? sorry to sound harsh but you should know as much as possible way before you put your hob to your jill...
  10. carpet shop should have an end of roll quite cheap.
  11. i think shavings are the winner here, soak up the wet much better than anything else and easy to scoop out,but we all probably have a preference,i clean the toilet area every other day to keep things clean, and lino on the hutch floor to keep it protected will be addded very soon...
  12. if you don't ask you don't get, there's no problem with people asking to tag along just got to find someone close enough to you with room for one more,we all started somewhere and most would have gone along with someone so good luck with your search...
  13. this thread certainly had the dust wiped off, wonder if it will get heated then go quiet for a few months then crop up out the blue...
  14. don't mean to be soft but "shot" sounds harsh would "put out of it's misery" or "ended it's suffering" or something similar not be a better description,i know how harsh nature is but just feel that when we undertake these cold but necessary acts which it is best to be detatched from we could at least sound a bit human somehow...
  15. it's always sad to lose one, sorry to hear it every time.
  16. the scottish association for country sports (sacs) is good i heard, low membership fees (£25ish) and high liabilty and covers all aspects of hunting eg shooting, ferrreting, falconry etc,or so i believe...
  17. all fair advice, just don't hurt the ferret in any way as punishment as it could start to associate your hands with pain and bite out of fear of you...
  18. what will they be????? id guess they'l be ferrets sorry mate lol id imagine a dark poley colour but its still early to tell ferrets...class!
