  1. my albino jill took a few outings to pick it up,now she is about there so putting in the time is defo worth it,a really good worker could take a couple of seasons to learn it's trade.
  2. some extra security needed for your little houdini's??
  3. wooden carry boxes, one single/one double, you can make your own cheap enough.
  4. just give them a minute to sniff each other and they should be fine, and keep them in seperate boxes cus you are more likely to get fighting in confined space i expect.
  5. it would work on the area you could cover, any connecting tunnels into the area outside your net would allow rabbits a way out,you could enter the ferrets this end and flush them into your netted area,if you see what i mean.
  6. good day out and nice dogs aswell.
  7. more land and the young ones starting to work,it's all good...
  8. at least you will all be well fed!
  9. sounds like the weather is making it hard all over, but that's a good day's ferreting.
  10. the more you go the more you will learn so it's all part of the learning curve, once you've got more nets(and an alarm clock!)you will bag more, you can't beat getting out in the country, and isn't a bullterrier a bit hard mouthed for picking up rabbit?they might look a bit skewered when you get them back!!
  11. bit like myself, love to be outdoors doing something i enjoy,as long as i get one for the pot i'm happy, any more for the ferrets or freezer is a bonus!stevethefish must have a big ass freezer!!
  12. hope you get them all back,at least you now think you weren't robbed by some scum bag,my mate had one get out not too long back(his lad possibly opened the hutch)and found it at the rspca four days later, she had crossed several roads and got to the park where a dog walker found her,so keep on trying...
  13. i agree,lucky to walk away,you and the ferrets!
  14. at least your out,i owe the missus a lie in!so here i am watching fireman sam with the little one,(and having a peek on here)not all bad though i'll do a couple hours lamping later...
  15. another top day out, must be one hell of a place to be ferreting, but i'm sure you put in the effort though.
  16. take the rough with the smooth...at least you made an attempt.
  17. it defo gives you a sense of satisfaction making things yourself, think i'll end up with something similar in the summer... thanks for the blueprint...
  18. it's good to seee your new/young ferrets doing well, nothing beats the feeling or confidence a proven worker gives you but when your newbies start to bolt them you get a whole new wave of emotion, unless it's just me that feels like that!!
  19. always good to get a little more land, nice to hear your dog is in training aswell.
  20. it's a real shame people like that have animals, hopefully a real minority, and it's nice to see people care enough to take on extra(albeit not neccesarily wanted)ferrets,a little bit of education would go a long way with some of these people/scum bags, every animal small or large should have the best of care possible should it not??
  21. that's a hard question to answer without being there to see what you are/aren't doing, the best advice is go with someone experienced and watch and ask questions about everything, you will get loads of help with anything more specific on here but your query was a bit too broad!good luck with it and let us know how it goes.
  22. better to be cursed under someone's breath than go round in the same old circles though... sometimes the bunny lovers are a little ignorant(and bigots)but being civil for a few minutes can help bridge the gap, hopefully!
  23. looks like a good day out, nice place to be by the looks of things.
  24. that's pretty hardcore ferreting,well deserved 50!!
