  1. And once you've drilled it into him do it again and again and again! Do it once a week for 6 weeks and you'll be fine mate. Good luck and all the best with him. Keep us posted eh? I'm keen to see how you get on!
  2. I've read the thread mate and I had a similar experience over 20 years ago. I had a 1st x collie geyhound who, as far as I was concerned had been properly and dilligently stock broken by myself when he was a wee puppy! I was on horseback and had my 3/4 collie greyhound and the 1st cross with me. The sheep belonged to me so I didn't have any explaining to do. To cut it short the half-bred chased a sheep into the river - he was herding it more than wanting to grab it. I found both him and the ewe in the river in a stand-off. She was a fiesty old blackface and was going to stand for no shit. He
  3. Hey Hannah - yeah he's a nice wee guy. I've known some old shepherds from these parts who'd have given a pink nosed collie puppy a wide berth reckoning that they were no good?! We'll see eh?
  4. Roll on September eh? Set the Waster Heather ahaud eh?
  5. Hey Martin - yeah the black dog came from Hancock too. He's a 3/4 bred by Kubla. He was 8 months old last week. He's 26" ats and weighs 60lbs plus. We got him in December. He was 15 weeks when we got him - that caused a few problems, separation anxiety etc. And to be honest as I've posted before he hasn't been easy to live with. However, outside in the field he has been a total delight to train and is a seriously obedient, well-behaved and tractable dog. Roll on September! What about your bitch? How she bred and how's she doing?
  6. Yeah we picked him up from David and Sally on Saturday morning. He's settled in really well. He's the fourth I've had from Hancock. best of luck with him,be nice to see how he shape's up Cheers Bird - I'll post progress over the next few months. Looking forward to it!
  7. A big bite and then shake the living...out of it!
  8. Hey mate - he slept well last night after our little walk. Never heard a squeak.
  9. Yeah we picked him up from David and Sally on Saturday morning. He's settled in really well. He's the fourth I've had from Hancock.
  10. Few pics of my new 1st x collie/greyhound puppy. Got him at the weekend - he's 8 weeks old on 21/5/11. Looking forward to the future - can't wait!
  11. Had terriers since before I can remember. First lurcher when I was 19 and that's now 26 years ago? Jesus it don't seem that long when you say it quickly eh? Had some of the best times ever with them too! My son - 13 years old is as keen as!!! And that's great.
  12. What the f*****g hell is a pure lurcher - this gets madder and madder!!!!
  13. Sheep rustling? Nah...seriously - eh...? Yeah would have to be sheep rustling!
  14. Yeah wish you lot would munt-jack this in!!!
  15. Whilst I admire your sentiment Ethyl. The time for sentiment has passed, what is needed is cold hard facts. People come on a forum and ask advice and it always seems to be after the fact. Would it not be better if people took the time to learn how to prevent such events taking place in the first place? Obviously, he has not a clue on how to stock break a dog. But, instead of asking for advice he just takes the dog out and once it had chased the sheep, he let it off the lead to chase them again with the consequence of the lamb being killed. I was always taught that you are responsible for
  16. I have no i-deer what that is????
  17. Think we should be able to shoot stupid arrogant wankers too? Dont shoot the dog ffs its not even 10 months old yet could have been the other dog that weighed in first if you didnt see the whole thing unfold try a shockl collar and a hard line back to basics on every little thing.Dont let the dog away with anything and make sure it knows your the boss no arguements no debating it. First things first. I have never spoken to you, and as some one who has to keep their dog muzzeled around strangers. I do not think that you are in a position to call people wankers. Lets get one thing
  18. Yeah - top level politician in the making here - ditch the dogs and join a political party. I see a bright (not in the clever sense) future ahead!
  19. Of course I bet the farmer was pissed off when you turned up at his door to 'fess up with lamb in hand and a rather 'sheepish' - pun not meant - dog on lead????
  20. A U-turn that would make even the most two-faced, slippery politician blanche!!!!
  21. Yeah, wounding as many as possible in the process too!!!
  22. Ffs it was you who described the black dog as a psycho who don't do strangers, insults and thought it was going to kill the other dog? So any criticism is basically your own fault - it can't be a psycho one minute and a paragon of virtue when it suits you!
  23. Firstly he is a stunning big dog and a credit too you but i can never get my head around people thinking its funny that there dog may possibly be aggresive towards people....... The mind boggles!!!!! Yeah - nice dogs and all that but I agree with Lab - can't square that in my head!!!. He don't do insults with other dogs - and you're worried he'd kill it. Plus he and doesn't do strangers eyed up a few golfers on the way. LOL???? Yeah - tons to laugh at there. Liability as far as I'm concerned and a total embarrassment. Wonder how long your 'permission' will last if your psycho eats a co
