  1. Takes a long time for a good dog i would imagine it would be hard to find one for sale.
  2. Ive taken the advantage of sitting in the sun watching the dogs race around the field absolute heaven, shame its not going to last looks bad for the weekend.
  3. I hate reading things like this because i know how i would feel, i hope you get your dog back soon. Its a very smart looking terrier.
  4. There seems to be more going on up North a lot that i know of goes on through the local hunt.
  5. I have said before very difficult in this part of the country, we are waiting to take my pups ratting with a local guy they are just not getting the calls to go.A lot of farmers around here just pay a game keeper one person on there land less hassle they think. Atb.
  6. I was told by our local farmers that the European law states that they have to put poison down to keep rats clear from the farm and so they dont get rats. I suppose it could be an excuse not to have dogs doing the job. If anyone finds anymore info i would be interested to know. I have found this on the NFU site. http://www.nfuonline...n-for-biocides/ so it would appear i have it wrong and that our local farmers have it wrong. I would have thought this an absolute reason for using dogs. http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/physical_health/conditions/pesticides.shtml
  7. yep we have one of those traps and like lumphammer says its not the strongest but does the job.
  8. Its quite hard to find any farms here in the West country with rats as they all say they abide by the European law and have rat poison down. Ive seen a couple down by the river Exe bank early in the morning.
  9. Im talking about the working classes i agree that there are other classes where these breeds are bred just for the shows but this is my experience of the working terrier classes. Perhaps its very different in other areas.
  10. Spec never said it didnt look alright its a smart looking dog, its the charity organisation that i was pointing out the way that charity can spoil a good dog and prevent said dog getting the right home.
  11. Wurzil i dont get your argument all the terrier shows in the West country that i go to most people that show there terriers do some form of work and to be honest in some cases its very obvious. In my experience an obvious working dog will get placed above a non working which are few and far between. Perhaps its different in other parts of the country but we certainly have a lot of fun at our terrier shows.
  12. He needs rescuing from the rescue centre.
  13. All the shows in our area that i have been to have been a good opportunity to get out with your mates and dogs out of season for a good old catch up. The showing side some you win some you loose. Some judges are good and some are bad like most things in life. I saw a guy with a dog about 15 ins, the judge said to him that dogs to big, Guy says it does the job and thats all that counts. The guy ended up winning the class. In most cases its just a fun day out. Does it matter if you win or lose and whats the cost about 1.50 per entry. I enjoy taking the pups out its a good socialization for them.
  14. Theres one here is it any wonder the color gets such a stinking reputation, and this is one of those stupid rescue centres. The worlds gone mad. http://www.petforums.co.uk/dog-rescue-adoption/36452-freddie-3-year-old-red-fell-terrier-needs-home.html
  15. obviously a very articulate and educated person NOT....
  16. At 8 months he is still young and still settling in with you perhaps he just needs time to regain some confidence with you and himself.
  17. All of these charity organisations are full of bureaucratic twoddle and dont want you to have anything from them because they need to get the money in from all the do gooders that give to them. They can then say the organisation is full and you will feel sorry for them. From my experience they dont have a clue about looking after most dogs in there care and create more problems than enough. The RSPCA being the absolute worst and the absolute pits. Sorry but i hate these organisations with a passion. If you want a good pup if your prepared to wait a good one will come along and it wont cost you
  18. thanks pics arent the best but im so pleased with these pups but they are going to need a lot of work to keep them happy lol
