hey pal, first of all its common for dogs to eat shit, all breeds so dont be to concerned just yet.i take it its fed regular so its not down to hunger, then you gotta think worms so make sure thats up to date, are the stools loose? does it eat it as soon as its turned it out?maybe mimicing its mum from an early age etc............my uncle who has had dogs all his life, terriers an lurchers reckons the intestine of the latter is not as efficiant as some other breeds due to the physique an sometimes when the shit comes out it still holds sum good stuff that appeals to the dog.....just a few ideas ma

think you should do a bit more research pal..............not something you want to rush into.

Good luck mate - but hopefull a couple of lines of encouragement. My JRT went missing one night when I was out with her, terrible night -windy, rain, storms etc - it was only about 1/2 mile from where I live - couldn't find her anywhere so reluctantly went home. The next morning very early I went out looking for her and saw a very sad sight dragging herself up our road - using only her front two legs to pull her aong - the back end of her was basically squashed.- every time you tried to stand her - her back legs just did the splits. The Vet said either an earth or a heavy branch must have hi

that bitch of yours still remind me of my 4 month old pup! -
Thanks again - yes also feeding chicken wings/necks, rabbits she catches, tuna in sunflower oil etc.

Legend! She has done in 4 weeks what vets have not achieved in 4 years! I know there is still some way to go but I'm sure you'll all agree this is a huge improvement. I am very grateful. I think it also shows when you get past alot of the b/s and slanging matches that go on on here, it really can be an invaluable source of information and knowledge.

Followed Skycats advise and a marked improvement can be seen below. Many Thanks. 1st pic from today, 2nd pic from when I wrote this post. Less red, no scabs and hair growth for the first time in 4 years!

My pup is 4 months old - on right of picture - the dam is on far left of picture. -
My father in law worked and bred whippets. He used to call my lurchers "mongrels" and generally take the piss (! as father in laws do!!) 5 years later he doesn't own one whippet - but has 4 lurchers - that speaks volumes to me. LOL

Dont' really know but Skycat said "Could it be some kind of auto immune problem? maybe like 'Collie'nose', where the dog's own immune system attacks certain skin cells? Don't know much about it but a friend of mine had a little lurcher with a dash of Collie in it and it had a very similar problem. Have you tried the dog on a raw diet and adding Kelp powder to the food? Not saying it will cure it, but anything's worth a go." In the vets I'd paid for skin swabs, blood tests, lotions/potions, tablets, £60bags of special dog food - you name it but they couldn't find anything or give anything

Will post another pic in a few months - hopefully it will be fully cleared by then if this is anything to go by. Thanks again.

:notworthy:Skycat. Just to say about a month ago you gave me some advice regarding my dogs nose which I've followed - the results so far are impressive and after spending a fortune with the vets trying to sort it out (!!) much cheaper. Thank you very much. first time the hair has grown back in 4 years! Heres an up to date picture. 1st picture is today (after 3 months treatment) 2nd picture is before treatment. Its improving all the time.

Nice one. Will PM you time and date - it ususally starts about 1pm. Was £1 to get in and then £1- £3 per race depending on the lenght of race (might have changed now) Also, if you are running with other dogs - you'll need to bring some muzzles mate, if you just want to run yours together or on their own then they don't usually make you muzzle them. Cheers. -
Great news - made up for you. nice to hear a of a happy outcome

Its Ellesmere Port Greyhound track mate. Once a month (usually first Sunday of month) in the Summer the Afghan club hire it out for them to have a lollop about (LOL - its actually really funny to watch them!) but they let lurchers/terriers and other breeds race too. Its a good laugh and sometimes you can have a mix of breeds racing and choose different length races - eg my lurchers have raced pure salukis over longer distances etc. is there any chance you can pm me the details of were its held Not sure when it starts up again - but here's a link to it : www.affieloverbreedclubs -

Thanks for comments. Dew claws - I wish I had someone to show me (vet wanted £20 per pup - but that was on top of the £440 c section - and I just iddn't have it on me at that time!) Mines enjoying the freedom of the running too and likes having a play about with the bigger dogs. Your crush is a smart little thing - more whippety looking than mine, its nice to watch them progressing. ATB.

Gyp is 1/2 greyhound, 3/8th whippet, 1/8th deerhound (so pretty much a Grew - LOL) Luna is 1/2 greyhound, 1/4 deerhound, 1/4 bull. Its good fun - once a month and gives the dogs a good burn off. Good luck with yours. -
