  1. Great stuff, going out again today, although the main object is to collect frog and taod spawn, and to try and find some newts, but taking the camera again, got to get plenty of practice in before getting into action shots rabbiting
  2. Hi tote, its a FUJI S2 PRO, its taking a bit of getting used to though, but Im getting there, the last SLR camera I had was an Olympus OM10,
  3. no way in the world any dog of mine would get goose meat from me, have you tasted it,, bloody lovely
  4. My ancestors had to get out of Ireland for horse stealing, but good St Patricks day to all the Doherty`s in Mao, and of course, everyone on here....
  5. On that sort of land, which is more or less what Ive always worked my dogs on, Ive voted GOOD lurcher x lurcher, the best hare killers Ive seen in my area are dogs of this breeding, I was always a profit hunter, plus Ive seen some of what was classed as the best hare coursing dogs in my area, these dogs travelled to the fens to do their graft, few did it here, the ground and terrain can make all the difference....If the vote had been on the fens, of course my vote would have been completely different
  6. Never had anything with saluki in, but I have seen a lot of saluki crosses in the area where I live, and been out with loads, the boys who got first crossers in particular had lots of problems with feet injuries, and the same lads rarely if ever went for three quarter breds of this type
  7. I remember judging a show at Arye greyhound track years ago, and time trials had been on in the morning, the boys up there had entered a three quarter deerhound x greyhound, and it got third fastest time on the morning...What this dog was like for stamina I couldnt say. Ive seen some three qaurter bred greyhound x whippets, lightening fast, but the boys that owned them went home after 2-3 courses The amount of greyhound in each pup can differ, and this can affect the stamina, but you can get some useful dogs for all-round ability from three quarter breds of any breeding..and stamina can be
  8. I used to feed hearts to all my dogs years ago, 10p each, until I tried one myself....Absolutely lovely, and deers hearts, mmmm, even better. I just slice them and fry them in the deep frier, or do them in the micro wave, if you can get them for that price mate get as many as you can, they are good bait
  9. Lucky so and so, the bitch I was on about is well and truly mated matie
  10. I am a deerhound person, and the judging was disgusting, and the overall state this once elegant breed is getting to is so disappointing...Size size size thats all they are after, someone should educate these so called experts as to the meaning of gait, drive, soundness, poor fronts and poor anglulation..It all happens at Crufts, winning dogs bred from the judges stock, others owned by people who are judging Champ shows in a few months time, to return the favour, sorry, but Crufts show now possesses all the escence of a shit sandwitch. Good dogs get swallowed up and spit out Im affraid Dogs

Well Im mainly interested in the deerhound section, and the judging was a disgrace, and the majority of the dogs entered, well so, so disappointing.
  12. Too many cheating judges pushing their dogs, and their friends dogs....
  13. Ive got no great love for ANY first cross, all F1`S have to have something else added to them to make them better, and more versatile, but you right on this one Kaney , some deerhound/collie/greyhound lurcher inialate foxes Ive always had dogs of this type of breeding, and Ive never had to stictch a dog yet through taking foxes, the best dog that ever lived in the north east of England was a variation of this cross, all the record numbers of rabbits, hares, deer and foxes taken in the same area, were taken by lurchers of this similar breeding
  14. These crosses can make some of the best all-rounders, they will take anything, and size, please forget it, In 35 years of keeping running dogs, Ive never seen a dog yet, too big to get down to a rabbit, this is a cake baked by people who for one reason or another havent worked bigger dogs. I must admit my own best dogs have always been around the 23-24 mark, but, Ive had 27 inch crosses that took over 3o rabbits regularly in one night, and pure deerhounds that have had 27, and that also beat lurchers in lamping competitions on rabbits. Its usualy a novice thing to argue about size. I have s
  15. Well, four days old and only one dog pup not spoken for, serious lurchermen, you had your chance
  16. Boomer, there is a deerhound bitch being mated this week, from 100% working stock, possibly one of the best working lines available in the UK...
  17. I jab ALL my pups, but NEVER give boosters AND Never have problems and Ive kept dogs all my life
  18. Has anyone on here got one of these for sale, pm me with details
  19. The lad is 100% genuine lurcher lad, one of these who wants to see the pups go to working homes, not pet homes, he isnt out to make money, he is replacing the bitch from the last litter that broke its neck [edited - Nightwalker] the pups will be VERY sensibly priced, pm me, I will give you his number,
  20. A friend of mine has a litter of lurchers, these will make exceptional all-rounders, on all quarry. It is a repeat mating, and pups from the first litter can be seen. Sire deerhound/greyhound collie/greyhound x Dam greyhound. There are dogs and bitches, all are black, they were born today, 4/3/07 Like I say these belong to a friend, the only connection I have with these is that I bred the deerhound/greyhound in the mating. From what has been said on this, and other forums, numbers dont seem to count any more, but these dogs are bred to take big numbers, and the lad who has them will fill
