  1. Excellent choice of judge, we were very lucky to have the man judge our show many years ago Northumberland & Durham Working Lurcher Club, we never had a bigger turn out in the terrier section
  2. Definately mate, I couldnt agree more, there was some days when selling some of the rabbits, hares, deer, fish or feather made the difference in us having a meal..and Im not fecking joking...No one now could imaging a married couple splitting the back of the settee open to collect the money to go and get 2 kit kats to go with a cup of tea, I can, becauase me and the wife have bloody done it. Yes, I forget, times have changed at times. I was only trying to be constructive in my input, as I avoid arguments about dogs now like a Geordie avoids a spelling test.. If anyone has picked me up wron
  3. Youve brought up a few points there matie, yes hare dogs for the fens have improved immesly, no one would argue with that, but for me yes the dogs that were around 20-25 years back that were bred for all round ability, that were suited to the heavy duty lamping game were better and Ive seen nothing over the last 10 years to change my view, The lurcher world is not exempt from fads and fashions, and the present scene is for saluki, bull and smaller whippet crosses, these all open new horizons for the lurcher world, as you say, such as better hare killers as with the saluki bred dogs, but, Im af

Hey Molly are you a model??
  6. Ive had some good nights out where numbers werent the important factor, a couple off a golf course, short grass between whinneys etc. Rabbits were that tight on the ground were I live because of so many lads with dogs ferrets etc, As long as you are happy, thats the main thing. Years, ney decades ago I had a bitch, lads from Bedlington, Ashington areas that had dogs then will remember her I can assure you...I was hearing of what the big lads were catching, and I had no faith in my own dog what so ever to emulate them...and this I believe effected the dog. A home truth here too, (that

  14. Ian mate your right, Ive been out with blokes when I was young who I was literally frightened of because of the reputations, and of course their dogs Then when I saw their super dogs on, wondered what the hell are they talking about. I now believe half of what lurcher lads tell me, and three quarter of what they show me..
  15. Please to see you intervine Ian, why is it that every debate about rabbits drifts off to either killing fen hares or mauling foxes

  21. Yer that`ll be right, have a look at gnippers answer, that would be more like it...Got a base ball bat over the side of my face at Wooler one night....Pleased when the feds turned up on the scene, thought the keepers were going kill and bury us that night. You had to make sure you didnt get caught by keepers.. One of me mates got caught lamping, dead now poor soul, got filled in, and they kept his dog, said they would kill it if he didnt fetch them 10 bags of coal..Another time 3 farmers were going to shoot my dogs...Police turned up and did us for not having dog licences..next harvest time s
  22. Happy birthday to the man who has had the most debates on this site, in fact, he is a mass debater
  23. Marina or Avenger i'd say. Yip Hillman Avenger. cost me £50, it was originally orange, you might be able to see this in the back windows, we painted it black, and a week later green, believe it or not, dark green hides better than balck, hand painted with a paint called re-paint, decent brushing paint, record numer of getting stopped, 10 times in one month, used to keep the HORT 1 forms off the feds on the walls of the dog sheds.. Must admit I liked the Vauxhall Viva`s too, could get 5 dogs in the boot of these
