  1. Ive never fed a dog before going lamping, and my thought would be you need a good kick op the arse if you did. Why single out lamping, how many coursing lads feed their dogs before a match, unless purposely 'stopping' them. I had a friend whose dog was running like shit, eventually found out his mother thought it was cruel not to feed it before going out, so she was, stopped her feeding it, and it got back to its best. Apart from running lurchers, Ive worked whippets, salukis and deerhounds. Deerhounds have always been noted for the problem of bloat/torsion, as this usually effects deep ch
  2. Cheers Tommy, should have known, I remember the event, we had trips from our lurcher club to various Alc finals and such, and know Sankey well, the photos werent marked as to who they were, so was just checking. Cheers
  3. I never saw the dog running, but have these pics from the fens, can anyone tell if this is the dog? I know if might be difficult just fro these pics, but have loads more, and footage
  4. It strange how when this dog is mentioned, the stigma of it jacking always comes up..Ive never been into saluki crosses, but I have travelled to the fens to watch them, and have many friends who were preapred to travel from Ashington, Linton and Ellington in Northumberland, to the fens to race them..Obviously the dog was a good runner on the fens, but some of these lads said it was a jacker at times, on hares that a dog would have been expected to run..
  5. Must admit Ive never seen a mixy rabbit up here for a while, but its usually September before it rears its ugly head.

  7. Hi Mate, is it an SLR you are after, or a Digital SLR?
  8. Some of the best dogs Ive seen were this way bred, or dogs from this way bred..If they are in the right hands and taken to their full potential, they can make very good all-rounders, they have so many good points that these over-ride any failings that individual first cross deerhound x greyhounds or individual first cross collie x greyhounds may have

Hazels much better for a beginner, is easy to get, you can find peices almost exactly what you need size wise, and it only takes 12 months to season.. Put the roes foot into the freezer till your sticks ready for it Good book, Stick dressing by Norma Tulip, The local high school where I live does stick dressing courses as night classes every year...Might be worth checking adult learning course in your area

  13. Like to see a lamping dog consistanly take 9/10 or 10/10 on a golf course Ive never been a one for counting the ones that got a way, pretty pointless really, But if over a full year you average out at having killed half of what you have slipped your dog on youve done well,
  14. Hi Martin, I took them at a place close to me, Duridge Bay country park
  15. Now I know your not going to agree with me, but, Ive been in lurchers for a long time now, and seen a few feet injuries during that time.. When its been a dog belonging to me I tried everything..If its jumped it will probable mend, but dont let it stiffen, keep spraying it with some for on linament, preferably a spirit linament. If it broken, get it cut off, it will take about the same time to heal as would a jumped toe, and you will ghet less trouble when its fully healed. If its broken, and you just give it time to heel, I will look for another post in 2 months time to say your dog is sti
