  1. Has anyone recent experience of carrying airguns on airplanes as checked baggage? I hope to be able to take an air rifle with me on a flight from the UK to South Africa next year. It will be sub-12fpe (legal limit in UK) and no licence or police permit is required for it in SA. A few things I do know: any air cylinder has to be empty;the airgun must be unloaded it has to be enclosed in a suitable locking hard case. If anyone is able to quote chapter and verse on this I would be grateful. I have written to the airline I will be traveling with (Air France/KLM) but have not received a reply. Un
  2. I'm considering one of these, a kit that includes: torch/flashlight, charger, batteries, scope mount, pressure switch. I've seen them advertised on ebay and I thought I'd ask: does anyone use one, and are they any good? If anyone answers "yes" and "yes" I'd be interested to know which supplier you used on ebay (I note several suppliers post goods from China or or elsewhere in Asia). What scope mount will I need for a 1" tube? Many thanks if you can steer me in the right direction.
  3. I sure as hell wish I was with them.

  4. Howzit okes, bladdy pleased to find an air rifle hunting forum.

  5. I have owned a Sumatra Carbine in .20 calibre for 2 years now and I feel sure that many members of this forum will be interested to learn more about this Korean pcp six-shot repeater. What follows is a review I wrote shortly after I took delivery of it. I imported the Sumatra direct from a dealership in the USA – Mac1 Airgun Distributors –which turned out to be one of the few dealerships I came across willing to ship products to South Africa and willing to do so via US Mail. I will say more about Mac1 later, but first let me introduce the Sumatra Carbine… Basic facts: Maker
  6. After many years of shooting with air rifles I can confirm that airgun hunting is what I like and my favourite air rifles are a couple of Korean pcps: the Career 707 Mk 2 Carbine and the Sumatra 2500 Carbine. These pcp repeaters look like a cross between an over and under shotgun and a Winchester western rifle. I love the look but the dealer I bought the Career from, 10 years ago, referred to it as “the ugly stick”. A definite plus point about living in South Africa is that it’s legal to own and possess an air rifle of any power output (provided it’s calibre is smaller than .22) without
  7. I was pleased to stumble across The Hunting Life when surfing the net. And I'm pleased to sign on as a member. I'm an Englishman living in South Africa and there is a very keen community of air gun shooters over here. This may come as a surprise in the land of the 'Big 5' but I put it down to the fact that many if not most South Africans love shooting sports. Anyway, I just want to say hello and I look forward to getting plenty out of the forums. Chris (aka Manco)
