    I recently bought an S10 which is the gun the BSA R10 was designed to replace. Many BSA fans believe the S10 has better build quality and is more reliable. Drawbacks are that it is heavy, lacks a quick-fill and pressure gauge, although these can be bought now as accessories. Both guns are regulated and if well-sorted have outstanding shot-to-shot consistency and accuracy. If you do a Google on BSAOG (forum dedicated to BSA airguns) there's lots of info on the S10.     I heard the guinea fowls long before I saw them and walked slowly in the direction of their noise keeping the sun between me and them and keeping close to the tree line. I got as close as I could without breaking cover and checked the distance with my laser rangefinder: 70 yards to the nearest of a small group of three.     I think I may be able to help here; I bought a Primos Trigger Stick a few months ago and have had opportunities to use it on hunting trips several times. I rate the product very highly. I have used it with centre fire, rimfire, pcps, and springers and it has worked well with each type of gun. With springers the technique needs to be adapted slightly. It works for me when I rest the back of the wrist of my supporting hand on the 'V' rest and then rest my rifle on the bony part of the base of my palm.     I've used a Hill Mk2 pump for the past 5 years and it had performed faultlessly - until a fortnight ago. Then, I experienced the dreaded 'pump lock' to coin a phrase. After a few up and down strokes, the pump 'locked' and it was difficult, if not impossible, to move the handle up or down. It's strange how irrational we are sometimes: because the pump was working fine the day before, my first assumption was that the issue was with the air rifle!     The Fenix 400 and the Fusion are designed and built to run at approx 15fpe (where this is legal) so UK shooters are getting an well engineered gun that runs at sub 12 fpe. I have a Fusion .177 in my small colllection of springers and from a rested position at 30m it will group inside 20mm if I do my bit. My only reservation is that 'out of the box' I found the trigger action a bit rough. But it's an easy trigger to work on; I dismantled mine and polished the sears and this improved it a lot. However it is not in the same league as a Rekord trigger unit. Chris

    I have tuned several Gamos and turned them into great shooters with an after-market trigger and a Maccari mainspring, plus a lube tune of course. But to me the IGT unit is unproved and I think there is better value around. For the same money you could get a Weihrauch 99S (HW50S) and that's what I'd go for. Good luck - Chris

    Splat! The bird crap hit the lounge window leaving two dirty tear-drop marks followed by much clucking and co-ing from the roof gable above. "That's what I think of your shooting!" the dove seemed to say. Who can resist such a challenge? I loaded the 'X' with a Gamo ProMagnum pellet and sneaked outside.     I'm another Meteor Mk1 initiate from 1959. When I discovered first fags, then beer, then girls the Meteor took a back seat (or was that the girl...?). Dad "borrowed" it to clear some garden pests but once left it overnight in his garden shed. Once was enough - a scrote nicked it. End of story.

    There are too many variables at play to permit a simple, meaningful answer to the question. Starting with pellets - have they been weighed and sorted? What is the starting pressure in the gun's cylinder? Over how many shots should variation in fps be measured? What is the starting power / velocity? Is the gun regulated or non-regulated? How is the gun placed in relation to the chrono - is the position consistent throughout the shot string? I could publish some data for my Sumatra but without answers to questions like those above it wouldn't mean all that much.

    I have Spanish gun, a Gamo Whisper X 177. I shoot this gun through 2 mainsprings and 2 piston seals. It once fall on rocky river bed. Is tough hombre. It still shoot good.     I have a fair bit of experience tuning Gamo air guns, having owned a Hunter 440, Shadow 1000 and a Whisper X. I note that each of these is on the product range shown on the Gamo (Spain) web site. All the guns mentioned have the same engine (cylinder, piston and trigger unit). They are also very tune-able and with a bit of TLC you get a very good gun for the money.     Thanks guys, @ Andy - good idea double-sided carpet tape but it will have to wait until my next visit to the UK as it doesn't look like it's sold over here. (Not many homes have fitted carpets.) I'm pretty sick about the gun wrecking scopes and I think it has just done for another; the POI keeps changing from shot to shot . The scope is a Burris, pretty expensive, with a good rep for toughness. Fortunately it does have a 'forever' warranty, but the basic point is that it should be able to stand the shock of the recoil from a 16fpe spring airgun. When I first got the gun I stripped it down
