  2. hey lads, i'm planning on doing an overnight hunt this upcoming weekend, weather permitting. this will be my first as me and my mate have only gone out for a few hours at a time so far and it tends to be early evening. my plan is to see the best time for a hunt on the new permission at night. would you suggest i find a good position and stay static all night or lurke about every hour or so? i a shine my torch from a hide at a rabbit but dont have the oportunity to take a shot and it runs off, would that be my position compromised or will they return again? cheers for the help lad
  3. only a private mate got a cardre soon i think tho what artillery reg u in, we're on the same camp as 7 reg mate. we have quite a good back area too
  4. great shoot mate wish i had the guts to slam my tabs in on the RSM's door and ask for permission i think he'd just beat me with a stick until i stopped breathing
  5. hey lads, excellent question. on one of my smaller permissions the rabbits are out in force as soon as it goes dark, although on a more rural and larger permission it seems they're out later at night. the space between permissions are 4 miles apart so it shows how different it is in different area's. as for hunting alone or with someone... i normally hunt with my mate as a team, or we go our seperate ways with radio systems and meet up at the end of play. it is better hunting with a mate however you may also find yourself more effective on your own. it depends on your taste. i've bee
  6. using my mates account hey lads after my last post i thought i would give it a try and carefully try and bend my barrel tip back up. after doing this i was able to take the cloth from the rear of my scope ( put it back to normal) and try zeroing. luckily my zero is back on with incredibly good groupings (better than before) lol this was at 22m so tomorrow i will give it a ago at my zero range 35yards at my permission and see how its goes. all seems well for now and barrel seems to be straighter will let you know tomorrow and if not its just a simple barrel change.
  7. cheers for the reply's helps a lot and the bunny humping the dead bunny hilarious mate
  8. ok before i start.. i do know how stupid this question is and it probably has a really simple answer too, but its been at the back of my mind since my last shoot. so here it goes... theres a rabbit hole on the permission which is popular with the rabbits. and i have a perfect hide position. however, and here's the stupid question... when i shoot a rabbit around its hole, and leave it to pick up later (to avoid compromising my position). will the other rabbits coming out of holes in the area of the dead rabbit notice it? in simple terms.. will the other bunnies see or smell the dead rab
  9. using my mates account! yeah. its bent at the very tip where the barrel goes thinner to incorperate a silencer. i have tried my mates scope which is identical on it to check its not the scope and it does exactly the same thing and my scope so i know its not the scope. scott
  10. hey mate . thanks for the reply, will send you it soon, just about to pop out at the minute. will try and also get the original sent to ya however the pics are rather blurry. but thanks for your help and thanks fot the advice about the bunnies.
  11. probaly just me being silly but whats an ND3? and thanks for everyones comment helps a lot, think im going to give the red light a try
  12. HEY ALL i was pondering last night about how i could possibly predict the movement / direction of a rabbit and know where it is and at what time of the night. and i decided to put some of those military skills to use. i decided to get a sattelite image of our permission and do some simple paint work on it. this is a rolling product which ... in a few weeks/ months time will greatly increase our hunting outcome. i put the boundry on it purely for visual aid. the dots signify where we have seen a rabbit and the line is the direction the rabbit ran off. the line ends where we
  13. hi lads, just needed some advice on lamping, so far we have been using white light, it works a treat to spot the rabbits but they tend to run off straight away or be out of range. i was looking at buying night vison (ATN MK330 Warrior Night Vision Rifle Scope) however the reviews are pretty bad to be honest and it seems like a lot to spend for a poor turn out. my mate said that we should try red light instead of white. is this just an old rumhour or is it better than white light? i'm kinda looking for pros and cons of it. i think it wont work due to the filter massively redu
  14. You are going to be popular then...... How did you have an accidental discharge? Do you not have a safety on the rifle? the safety is on the trigger itself and thats how it happened, the damage isnt too noticable so all is good
  15. hey lads, well me and my friend went on the new permission tonight. excellent area for rabbits however the night was a massive fail. due to it being the first night on the permission we were still getting used to good firing points and rabbit hot spots. we have found a few good places and saw a few rabbits, however the ground was quite uneven and you couldnt see them when in the prone position and shots from the knleeling or standing were too wobbly at that distance so the only thing we hit tonight was a glass house due to an accidental weapon discharge hopefully the next visit w
  16. good pics bud! see if we gan bag a few bunnies tonight!!!
  17. my mate told me about this post, soo funny. LOVE all the posts. i'm in tears laughing lol.
  18. that hole situation was as dodgy as disturbed earth in a mine field. good job you didnt get it. its better to get it from a legitimate dealer mate. saves a lot of hassle and peace of mind buddy!
  19. my hunting life started only 3 months ago. it all started when i came back from a 7 month tour of afghanistan and was sitting on a lot of money. i had just ended my long term relationship with my fiance (due to her being an inconsiderate B**CH!). this changed my life plan quite dramatically and where as i was about to buy a house, leave the army.,... for her. now i had a lot of free time and needed something to keep busy. me and my buddy were drving round talking about call of duty, and somehow it stemmed onto a conversation about a gun shop near us. we decided to have a look and pretty
  20. hi, me and my friend went out hunting today in a "light breeze". we did some target practice at our zero range (35yrds). where as normally i have a 10-15 mil grouping, because of the wind it was like i used a shotgun! how is it that such little wind can effect a pellet so much over sush a short distance? whats the best pellets to use in windy conditions for a more accurate grouping? cheers
  21. haha ! i used to mate, thought it was the stuff but then i tried pcp and.. as they say.. you can never go back! lol its just soooo much better! lol but they're ok tho
  22. oh forgot to mention.. you'll soon get annoyed with the single round snap down barrells. at least pcp has a 10 shot magazene
  23. hey mate, well for £300 quid ur lookin at a half decent spring rifle. powerful and it'll do the job. however i would suggest PCP gas rifles. i originally started with spring and found it had bad kickbacks and wasnt as accutrate. if u invest in a spring rifle, i garantee you within a year you'll convert to PCP. its the way forward. PCP cost about 500£ for a half decent one, and you need a gas bottle but halfzies with a mate lol hope this helps.
