  6. about a week ago me and my friend were at our local pigeon shooting permission. we had been stalking some pigeons and had ventured under some relatively low electrical pylons. about 20m in height. i had my rifle barrel resting on my shoulder, muzzle in the air as we walked underneath it. i soon felt a sting (about the strength of touching a farm perimiter fence wire to keep horses in) on my shoulder/neck. sureley this shouldnt happen? can electicity jump that far? anyway, beware of walking underneath them with your rifles in the air ! atb alex
  7. good read mate nice shootting atb alex
  8. nice shot mate, well done on the new permission too atb alex
  9. hi all, well this will be a quick. squeezing two days worth of shoots into one post as i only bagged 3 rabbits overall. we started early in the morning and went to are local pigeon shooting permission, we had a quick walk round and didnt see much. soon people started moaning (as usual) and we decided not to bother staying as it wasnt worth the hassle. as we were packing up we saw the owner and he came over and told us we were welcome to use his other land permission extened we had a quick walk around and didnt see much, the terrain was quite hard to walk over and we decided t
  10. haha! i actually fell for it when i read the thread title actually couldnt belive someone would post that straight after the arguement of the month on the other thread funny spa from me mate
  11. hey. i would suggest a night shoot on targets just to get the feel of distances and the amount of reduced lights. most night shooting , in my case , makes the rabbits seem further away than they really are. getting used to low light conditions is crucial. atb alex
  12. hey the same thing happened to my mates scope when the rifle was dropped. his barrel was bent. it looked straigh however if you have a silencer on it it could be bent at the tip of the barrel. my mate packed his scope as the previous post said. best option. i commonly loose zero with my scope though. it becaue it it gets a little nock (driving tot he permission...) it could be out by a few inches. i always check zero on whatever is available before hunting. its a confidence boost aswell as a confirmation. hope this helped atb alex
  13. hey mate nice shoot as far as i know, and i may be wrong, you cant hunt pigeons at night with a lamp, but as you said, you can with silouets. that is what i have been told, however im not sure about other birds such as magpies. atb alex
  14. well done mate, good hunt! cant wait to see the pics atb alex
  15. hey mate. in my opinion i would either go at dawn or dusk. thats whe the rabbit population seem to be out in strength. although they seem to pop out all day/ night. it will take a few weeks before you start to notice a pattern in rabbit activity (where they run to when they're spooked, wether they are lamp shy or not, hot spots...). when you see a rabbit run into its hole, i would suggest sitting off at around 40 m depending on your shooting ability and weapon type. if its gone in, it will come back out. best chance to get them. start finding decent firing positions, even if you missed
  16. good idea mate. never really thought of using an NBC suit. where did you get hold of it? at least if the rabbits get the hands on tactical nuclear weapons you'll be prepared! atb alex
  17. thanks for the video link mate. very helpful. are contaminated rabbits unedible? on our permission i have seen one rabbit that had it, that was a month ago and since then i havent seen any evidence of the desase. atb alex
  18. how do you notice if a rabbit has mixy as i am not sure? atb alex
  19. hi, i must admit i have skippe most of the posts due to time constraints, so i may be repeating what others have said before. i belive he may be expecting a massive kick back from the springer. once he has fired it a few tikmes he should adjust. also without the correct support, due to the kick back, its hard to be completely accurate. especially if it is a one shot weapon due to the change in position. certain people take a lot longer with adjustijng to weapons than others. parctice makes perfect! atb . alex
  20. i posted my last post on this subject in a rush and wished to correct my error. yopu may as well buy the top pellets which cost the same as the less accurate ones. the only one i can suggest are air arms as i said before as thats what i use and they have done me justice. atb alex
  21. hi, i may be wrong in this because i am no expert by far! i have an s410 in 177. in my eyes if you change the barrell and all the working parts that need adusting, plus laibour it will come up to the same price as part exchanging your rifle for a 177. would you not see that as a better option? atb . alex
  22. hi, what would be your price for a mat black finish on an air arms s410? or if possible can you do synthectic rubber coating? atb alex
  23. literally must have beat me to the post by seconds si! completely agree although the deben ATN PS22 - Night Vision System seems to be top dog at a hefty 2 grand price tag in my opinion. atb alex
  24. hey for shooting rats i would suggest the N550 mate. best digisight for the job your doing. it works well on rabbits too mate. it starts at about £1000, quite cheeky on the wallet for rats, but definately worth it if its an investmant. other than that you can pretty much find cheaper scopes online for less but obviously price = quality. atb. alex
