  1. Yes, I thought I'd posted it in the wrong section earlier. I have only just noticed this section for health etc, I'm at vets at 8 in morning dogs flat out now seems fine in herself.. Thanks
  2. Hi, after after on a good walk yesterday with my lurcher who was fine and happy running around chasing squirrels and rabbits, I noticed when I got home she has a turned in eye, like a lazy eye, im taking her to the vets in morning, it's not permently turned in but clearly they is a problem, I've read about dogs nerves being affected by eating dead animals etc which she has in the past, maybe it's just a scratch but having lost a pup recently to meningitis I worry, has anyone experienced this kind of thing? Any help would be great thanks!
  3. Thanks for the reply, she was going crazy for squirrels in woods yesterday so she may of caught a stick or thorn, hopefully that's what's up, Thanks again
  4. Hi I have a 12/13 month lurcher, I just noticed yesterday night, that one of her eyes is not straight (cross eyed) I am now worried sick as this must be a problem as this has come on over night, as I'm a unlucky sod I happen to be working away until Thursday 300 mile from my house and regular vets, so I've phoned a local vet and taking her there tomorrow, she seems fine in herself eating ok playing with my terrier etc, I read that it could be a infection or something she has picked up from eating dead animals or raw meat, she had a rabbit leg hanging out of her mouth last week and will eat all
  5. been bored out of my mind tonight I've just searched on web for border terriers, came across preloved site.. People are asking crazy money for pups, some 450/500 quid! I got a border x patterdale pup last year of a local gamekeeper she was 180 and I thought that was expensive I've just seen the same on preloved for 350..! I now can see why people knock out pup after pup just as a money maker.. I'm not looking for a dog nor am I breeding off mine just thought I'd get this off my chest the worlds gone mad!
  6. Good idea with business card, I'll take mine along guess it proves your genuine and can be contacted,
  7. my mates said of a place near by where he used to lamp when he had dogs, ill try there at weekend, as for where he farms ive only ever seen deer and hare up there, i have no interest in those, im just after rabbits for the time being, i wouldnt have a clue what to do if my dog got a deer lol..
  8. hopefully ill find somewhere this weekend, i have woods about a mile away from my house whats full of deer, and the fields on top have quite a lot of hares in them, my friend farms the fileds and says on a night its crazy with people hare coursing, apparently driving through fields and hedges in 4x4s ruining them, so id rather get permission than get caught by the police up the woods!
  9. ok ill have a drive around at weekend, i guess if i dont ask i wont get, but i know some farmers are not to keen on letting people on there land, and the majority are misrable sods too!
  10. evening, im new to the hunting scene, having owned my lurcher for a year now, shes coming on very well, i have been working on a country house what has a few fields and i have been taking my dog out lamping there, shes had about 15/20 rabbits now on the lamp only been out 5 times so she seems to be doing ok, brings straight back to me unmarked, but like i said there is only 2 fields so i would like to try seek other permission, any advice how to approach farmers, landowners etc to try get permission, should i take the dog with me if i go knocking to show them shes calm and not aggresive, etc..
  11. Good looking dog, I would say that though as she's the spit of mine! Thanks,
  12. Your terrier looks very similar to mine, how olds she? Mine is around 14/15 month old now,
  13. evening, does anyone own a border x patterdale, ive got a 15 month old bitch who seems to be coming out of her shell now, ive heard that borders take longer to bring on, but as im new to this i have no idea so just asking the question, plus does anyone have pics of the cross too? thanks,
  14. thanks for the positive replys! ive been on with my lurcher and border x patterdale terrier today ferriting with a friend, its the first time ive took my dogs out with ferrits, and what a difference ive noticed in them. there was 4 dogs in total my lurcher was marking sets, chaising bolters and had a brief look about herself in the long grass and put a rabbit up ran it and caught it! she must know ive been talking about her on here haha..
  15. that's exactly what she does, I bump into a guy sometimes near where I walk her he has 3 lurchers and she gets involved with his dogs hunting on, just when she's on her own she's clingy, but sounds like it's maybe not a bad thing! She's getting rabbits so that's a bonus..
  16. Thanks for reply, yeah ill keep her at it, I'm going out with my mate tomorrow ferreting so see how she does then!
  17. Hi I got my first lurcher who's a year old now, had her since 8 weeks. Her farther is a deerhound greyhound x collie greyhound, mother is collie greyhound x beddy whippet, Its my first lurcher so I'm new to this! Ive took her out with my friends dog and she's had 15 or 20 rabbits on lamp now and brings them straight back to me with no marks on them, so guess she's doing that ok, Problem is when she's out during the day she won't leave my side, she will chase things if my border terrier puts them up, but doesn't seem to want to get stuck in and hunt things out herself, as I said I'm very new
  18. did you get her off this site? my pups looks very much like her. same cross. shes 12 weeks now nice pup, what x is it Cheers bud sire..collie/gray-deerhound/grey dam..collie/gray-whippet/beddy
