  1. Sometimes My other Gsd is used more but to be honest I prefer to keep them for security at night ,they are very easy to train highly inteligent. We also have four beardie collies and five border collies who we use for the sheep I try not to work the sheepdogs on rabbit only sheep as they beggar off hunting when you want them to work sheep and when you got 2500 sheep the need to be concentrating on them especially when we are on open hill where we sometimes will encounter a hare. Here is one of her pups from a previous litter this is a straight GSD all this litter turned out to be exellent at
  2. She is a very athletic build strong boned not to heavy she probably weighs about 40 kilos, superb nose very quick strike. When people say about gsd not being very quick I would dispute that I have a male stud GSD who is 59 kilos and he regulary catches rabbits on the lamp and foxes pre the ban he has learned to read now and is a reformed character Here are the pups today at ten days old
  3. Just bred a litter of GSD X GREYHOUND One for my own use five bitches in litter no dogs The sire is a dog called Dine Daw lad 23 out of 25 races he is also a prolific sire The Dam is my own White GSD she caught a fox pre ban at nine months old she caught a rabbit two days after having the pups by accident Iwould not have run her intentionally I was just taking her for a quite walk there is no show breeding anywhere near her her back is nice a flat
  4. Caught this thread bit late just had a litter of first cross GSDX GREYHOUND five bitches in litter no dogs wannt to keep one for myself here are some pic
  5. Before crossing or breeding you have to look at why you would need such a cross or dog what sort of ground you are covering and what pack you have already Having owned a beddie and numerous lurcher types my cousin has bred and worked pats for about 40 years This cross in my opinion would be restricted to what it will catch for you bushed rabbits and rats and it is not going to be constructed properly to go to ground unlike the beddie which would do all that and more . Looks mean nothing to me give me a butt ugly dog anyday that catches over a handsome emptybag
  6. Thanks here is some more photos of the bitch working sheep wih me today in the shed
  7. Pallet base with marine ply on top then sides and roof marine ply slopped roof (no bedding) make sure no draughts ,four security panels for a run have never had fleas last dog died aged fourteen
  8. Yeh like the ones their dogs kill and catch everything they see,I tend to make polite conversation look at the dog on the day and base my decision on that. There must be a loser in all shows like the goverment dont let the snipers get you down
  9. I have worked lurchers all my life from the age of seven with my Grandfather and uncles to now at 46,what I get from shows when competing is the social life in the summer its a great crack to meet friends catch up and see their dogs and sponge their way of doing things. It was a bonus to me to see my dog win a race or trophy. The reason I started to run our show was I am not prepared to see my sport go underground I like freinds who help me are great belivers in strength in numbers ,when at shows in huge numbers like at our show last year over 450 dogs it is an opportunity to show the anti y

  15. Had a bitch once who started taking foxes once she got into that she would take cats for fun they use to come in the yard after the ferrets .the only thing you can do is keep her on a lead when you out just walking I dont normally come into cats when hunting except wild ones, with the chickens take her near them with the lead on have a rolled up newspaper handy keep her on a tight leash when she makes a move give a whack with the newspaper It wont hurt but they dont like the sound keep doing that two or three times a week untill she is cured To late now but it is easier to stock train a puppy
  16. Hi I was chairman of the Northumberland & Durham Working Lurcher Club, we organised some of the best shows in the north of England, 2 per year for our club, and we were also asked by other clubs to organise theirs. We always had 2 judges for the lurchers and terriers, Thought the days of having only one judge were over, it can work on smaller shows, but we were obtaining very large classes, best to split them up a bit if possible. imo Thanks for your reply Last year was the first year for this show we were unsure of numbers I think this year looking at the response we had it will h
