  1. They do no look to be geniune fenn correct me if I am wrong, I made the mistake of buying immatations ,didnt last two kills spring fcked up.
  2. In my humble opinion the Bwl show is how it should ,well organised apart from mike no wonder you didnt see half of the show you were sleeping 10 boys from the Tynte got in for nothing Joking aside I was chufffed to be asked to judge such a prestigious and long running show, standard of dogs were exellent, more noticablly was the characters in and outside the ring true working terrier and lurcher men, funny not a bullshitter to be seen, look forward to next year competitor judge or show goer well done Other shows should note the cups on offer were worthy of a game fair let alone a show the
  3. It also depends on when you wanted your dog,if you are desperate, and what was available at the time and where,so for an example down the road from you there is a litter of pups out of non working parents you havent got any form of transport, yey 300 miles away there is a good working cross,
  4. Very intresting I see my Lurcher pup loves chasing and catching some of the other dogs particullary the red patterdale, could this be the shape of things to come
  5. Was given a cocker spaniel once from show stock never seen or done anything, spent a lot of time with him he turned out to be a demon worker. However would never buy or breed anything that was not out of working stock. When going down that long road of dog ownership you, take a risk of a dog not working even out of the best x the best however I have found you increase your chances greatly by going worker to worker,it also gives you the opportunity to see what traits your pup might end up with good or bad.
  6. Yeah, hes from Belgian imports, much smaller, physically sound and high drive. Him and a pup I kept from him. Hope the show goes well Alun. Thanks mate a lot of intrest shown so far just hoping the weather takes a turn for the better
  7. Do they still do chicken and chips in the basket in the Pub :tongue4:
  8. He is a stunner Sim I have booked a german shepherd display team for our show on Sat 19th August, seen him up in Bodewythyn Castle North Wales, looks very similar to yours,he retrieves a car tyre, does all the grabbing the bady bit then he lifts a dumbell highly entertaining.
  9. Foxtrack just catching the end of this by the looks I contol moles on approx 4,000 acres my work methods vary on different terains such as football pitches golf courses and cemeteries my main area is hill farmland,I use mainly gas and have used both talunex and phostoxin I find phostoxin more effective and easier to get hold off, however the talunex applicator can sometimes be easier to use. I only use dufus traps of which own 140 give or take a few that brock has nicked I have designed my chainharrows which tow behind the quad or truck,I harrow the field off before starting any treatment ju
  10. No sign of mine having hers yet,she loves work have to work hard to keep her away from it..
  11. Penny Taylor,s articles in the CW are the best thing in it,imo, thoughtful, perceptive and practical information from a very experienced dog-woman who has a wealth of knowledge on all aspects of working running dogs. Inan.
  12. I was asked the question again the other day after someone seen mine,I wont be breeding the gsd bitch back to a grey again it was a one off for myself and a mate,if I did consider breeding my lurcher bitch back to a grey I have two stud dogs already ear marked,However most importantly she will have to prove herself first over a good two seasons, first one on rabbits, second one on then I would review it again if she was that good might not need another lurcher.
  13. Coursed with deerhounds with a mate about ten years ago his dogs name was bad very similar looking ,he was a bad mother f"""ker and all loved charlies, caught his fair share of hares on the lamp on big fields. We are having a simulated coursing meeting for all sighthounds at our show on August 18th ask yer mate if he would like to come would love to see them going on a course. Them kennels are better than some houses I have been in
  14. You jammy B""""""""d that pup is looking good hope you are bringing her 18th 19th be good to see you and her again
  15. Dont worry about your dog it has the inclination to chase and catch a fox ,it has had its first bite now which will make a big difference to its approach. I had a collie saluki greyhound bitch once which in its first running season done only rabbit and hare at the end of the season my beddlington flushed a fox out on to a field for her out of a small copse, she flew after it, grabbed it by the throat and like a rabbit went to retrieve it alive, because of the weight a big dog fox she struggled loosed go to get a better grip and old charlie latched straight on to her muzzle, blood every where and
  16. Cheapskate didnt you buy a electric one all that meat I get I would have arms like arnie if I had to put it through a hand grinder :weight_lift2:
  17. Thanks for that bought one, delivered in two days works a dream, cant put alot in it but does the job for me
  18. If it is true that 1)There will be no ringside parking 2) It is going to cost £14.00 each to get in 3) Qualifiers will have to pay to get in Then it will be a sad day for a once great country occassion,as far as I am concerned the lurcher show plays a huge part in drawing the crowds on a Sunday,Lurcher and Terrier people should be welcomed with open arms :welcomeani: not hit over the head with a big stick.
  19. s.g. why do you need to use such a monstrosity as a gtc. raft its like a vietnamese houseboat , far to large ,and cumbersome you would be there for a month trying to set out a mink line , my mate uses 200 rafts and can carry them in the back of his truck out in canada , and a float is not new as some people would have you believe , the americans have used them since the 1940,s my mate catches 2000 muskrats plus a number of mink on these small rafts in 3 weeks , a small length of 10 x2 plank will work as good , you never get real pro. trappers giving themselves hard work , its only the amateur
  20. A tick breathes through its skin if you rubbed even butter on it ,the tick would die and drop of within days, never spray treat an animal with insecticide ,just clean out or wash the bedding if a dog, then treat the bedding with frontline.By pulling a tick out there is always the possibity of leaving parts in and infecting the area.
  21. That type of crap use to make me smile when said about my beddie whippet x scooby, how many times somebody pissed up at a show would say to f****g small for a lurcher. Before telling them to f***K off.I use to think of the times that dog not only amazed me but, real dog people as well with his speed anticipation courage and killing ability, put him in a big field they would not have time to make the hedge, dont lets get on to a big dogs better than a little dog because I have kept both and there are good and bad in both ,butthe main thing is you know what your dog is capable of dont let some know i
  22. Can anyone reccomend the best pellets to use with the air ranger
