  1. Bought one of these direct from cluelight Initially bought it for mounting under my 9mm shotgun for rats, when it come back found it to be a bit to big for that job Took it out the other night with my lurcher What a cracking lamp Light as a feather, hell of a good beam from a small lamp, lasted well over Two hours and a good days work the following day. Phoned Cluelight today and they said You can purchase spare batteries and a red filter, for rabbits and foxes this lamp would be perfect
  2. Just received the new Kilgerm catalogue There is a photo of one of these directly under a photo of a Talpex it looks half the size of talpex according to the catalogue At £15.00 a pop if a Badger nicked one of them I would have to fit trackers to them
  3. That is the dog to use over a greyhound a WORKING COLLIE not a joking one
  4. Someone older and a lot wiser than me once said You have to love being a pest controller because it will never make you rich Only in our profession would someone want to watch you so they could try to do it themselves, imagine asking a sparky plumber or mechanic could you watch them so you could do it yourself after they would tell you to """"" off Or do they work without insurance. Mole trapping is making up at least 75% of my work at the moment, long may it continue I love it. Lets hope the amateurs and diy ers continue to cock up I get loads of work from their failures
  5. Glad You started this thread in need of one got plenty on,any photos please could do with one myself
  6. There will be Youngsters or people new to the sport, reading this and thinking I better build a kennel, or move house for a bigger back yard if I want my dog to improve or start catching rabbits or work in cold or wet weather. :censored: Another old wives tale I have had the pleasure to own and work with some cracking dogs of all types of crosses Lurchers and terriers who have been kept in doors and outdoors. The finest Lurcher I have ever seen working killing and catching everything pre ban was kept indoors He slept in the house back door was left open when I was in work and he would com
  7. My bitch hasn't surprised me in her ability to turn and catch rabbits because her mother a pedigree GSD could catch them,What has been a bonus with her is Stamina she will run alongside the bike or truck when I am moleing for the biggest part of the Day other things as well which cant be wrote. Her feet she runs on any ground no bother, when I put the ferret in she is near enough sleeping until it is near enough bolting, marking stands over the hole no disturbance, will not bark at nothing except when someone comes on to the Yard.Take a gun she will walk by your side no command take a terrier wont
  8. The show type Gsd that I have seen have a larched sloping back thin bone structure in compared to mine, unfortunately the kc breed standards do nothing for the breed as far as I am concerned.White Black or long coated are not allowed in the show ring so thats a good place to start,a lot of the working lines now come from Europe. This is Steel my 54 kilo dog marking a fox. Like with all dogs I have ever bred most important thing after health is it working ability I wouldnt Breed from nothing unless it tick all the boxes,Thats all my white GSD wanted was an extra yard of pace, which her daughte
  9. Hound nice looking dog looks like she liked the rats an all My bitch is bred from a White Gsd bitch that would catch rabbits on the lamp obviously not the strike rate of a half decent lurcher she would catch them, caught one three nights after having the pups arghhhh accident at the back of the house, didnt do her no harm though. Sire was a hell of a good greyhound proven sire to.
  10. This my First cross GSD Grey Drift She is a joy to work and own, when I first bred this litter I had the doubters to slow ,cant turn quick enough, back problems blah blah blah To date 126 rabbits on the lamp in good company 12 bolted rabbits ferreting retrieved nine shot hares She has feet to die for, very quick to learn, cool as a cucumber, Her only blot so far was she chase after a bolting rabbit through dense cover ,my polecat hob went after the rabbit to when she got to the hole the ferret was disappering down the hole she stuck her head in and the ferret bit her that was the last
  11. Looked at the sales video the other night looks impressive and if true, would be a useful bit of kit, more than half the cost of a tidy live catch, and a lot quicker set up time, far less imposing on the landscape, away from prying eyes, all good if it works, however plenty of badgers around here who definitely pull on bait that is how I make my traps, they are also easy to release a badger from unharmed,I wouldn't fancy trying to get one out of one of those. Been interested in the tube trap for a while, has anyone used one what sort of catches You achieved
  12. First may I say I hate politics always have done I am proud to say that I am the son of a miner and my grandfather and his father to was a miner,Being born and bred in the Cynon Valley It has always been instilled into me to vote Labour, and up until 15 Years ago I probably still would have. The Hunting Ban turned me over night, also the handling of the foot and mouth, and the way this government in general treats the rural way of life,we are like shit on their shoes, they would rather look after antis and badgers than old folk or country people. Voting Tory might not bring life back to normali
  13. I don't mind late payers as long as they phone you and explain apologise try to give you a goat in lieu of payment, what I cant stand is someone just not responding or acknowledging the debt, when you have move heaven and earth to sort out their rampant problem good luck mate hope you get your money. Local blacksmith tidy bloke,if anyone owes him money he sticks a big notice up outside his workshop with their names on it,must work nothing been on it for a long while.
  14. Personally I explain the importance of the follow up visits in that if the bait isnt checked within the seven day period it will cause more harm than good,I always phone before leaving the last call, rural enviroment dictates the way I work.Reguarding payment it is a difficult one to charge up font as You dont know how many visits You will need just done a rat Job in a small two bed cottage just finished my fourth visit,I havent had problems with non payment, late payment can sometimes be a problem thankfully not a huge problem.Sometimes you can gauge who are going to be a problem and treat them
  15. Here is My Gsd x Grey Drift Dynamite Day and night really laid back for ferreting a joy to work nightime has not let me down yet Reguarding breeding I would only personally breed a bitch if The Bitch had a least Two good seasons of hunting behind her and the sire ticked all the boxes,I will be looking to put her to a good strong working whippet
  16. How is the dog bred I have a bitch myself Greyhound sire white Alsatian dam
  17. Thats the trouble with these First cross GSD X Greyhounds they ar to slow for this quarry This would be her Sixth retrieve hare this season
  18. Done it once when I was Younger didnt half regret it cracking lurcher,me and a couple of mates who were mad for it went up to bromsgrove from south wales over hour and a half travelling, when we got there ground was frozen, place was bouncing with rabbits, thought we would give it a go,three runs two rabbits and a busted toe. I run a GSD X Greyhound now on the subject of feet hers are faultless, but still wouldnt run her rather take the gun out for a couple of days.
  19. Thanks for that Chalky have sent an enquiry to them but as yet no response
  20. Did I read somewhere or was I dreaming that they have put tube traps on the spring trap approved list ,if they have does anyone know of a UK supplier.
  21. Thanks for the link looks to be a good idea
  22. The saying wolf in sheeps clothing was made for the beddy, they are the dogs for ratting and many other things fantastic nose speed determination the most impressive thing is their strike, like a cobra, mine is in her second season now and I look at her sometimes and think where the f k did that come from.
  23. Has to be Bed x Whip for me owned one wish I still had him, most couragious dog I have ever owned and I have had and seen a few working, will probably look to breeding my own line from my Beddy bitch next year,so long as she ticks all the boxes and I find the right stud dog good strong working whippet.
  24. Good answer spot on whatever breed you use or intend to use both parents grandparents must fit the bill,to many dogs being bred using show or pedigree non working because of their breed name i.e. bull deerhound saluki and the collie. A good friend of mine coursed deerhounds all over country pre ban the real deal,he was persuaded to allow his dog to be used for stud over a ex track dog of distinction not an abandoned greyhound or something that couldnt make the grade, the result was a simply awesome on all quarry, obviously she would struggle on short bursted rabbits but rabbits on the lamp big
