  1. What kind of ranges are we talking about here? 223 or any 22 c/f is way too much for a rabbit imo, expensive too if you shoot a lot of them. have you considered a 22WMR? it's an ideal small bore fox and rabbit round, superior to lr and hmr.
  2. i'm not sure myself either I didn't notice any improvement over an ordinary barrel. However, it does work on my rifle. Not sure how to describe a winchester 101 action, take a mate or ask the seller to be sure is my advice, the 101 is quite collectable now.
  3. I had one of these, lovely gun, a bit heavy for game though. as far as i know the brand classic doubles used a few makes of gun not just winchesters, a bit similar to the parker hale range. if it's defo the winnie 101 action then rip his arms off for it, a very nice gun. The porting at the end of the barrel is to help reduce muzzle flip. Also check the action is tight, if not it'll cost around a ton to rejoint.
  4. Another vote for CCI CB longs, 29gr 710fps, approx 30ft/lb. i use them on rooks and sqizzers, sometimes rabbits in the barns or round the woodpile. As for using air rifles for dispatch, apparently it works well, i know of a couple of people that use them and they've not had a problem.
  5. and what did you have the 22-250 for? fox? then there's no reason why you can't have a 243 for "fox" it's a middle weight calibre and guidelines state that the 243 is acceptable for fox. You can always add on deer to your conditions if you buy stalking days, or find a mentor, does seem a bit strange if you asked for deer if you don't have any land with deer tho, you have to prove that you need it.
  6. Maybe i wanted to fire and inch high and to the left It was just a group fired before adjusting zero after switching ammo G dude i'm just meesing with ya just shows what they're capable of tho doesn't it? Are you reloading?
  7. thanks for the welcome peeps.
  8. I've got a laminate stainless t3 swede, much more solid and better balanced than it's plastic cousins, the only thing i really hate is the flimsy plastic mag, absolute shite on a grands worth of gun. I cannot fault its accuracy tho, i had a target much like groach's, except my shots were on target
  9. variations come in 3 catergories, 1 for 1, which is basically a swap and is free, an application for more or different calibers which costs £26 last time i did one, and a change in conditions. the first two require you to fill in the FAC application form, you don't need to add photos or details of your counter signatories tho, leave that bit blank. REMEMBER to add all the calibres you have inc moderators, ammo limits and type (expanding). the change in conditions only requires that you send in your licence with a covering letter and any qualifications such as DSC etc giving reasons for cha
  10. hi chap, i've got an opti42 on my win 70, does the job just fine, as above optimate are the ones to go for, made in japan, quality glass imo.
  11. I have a 20 yr old annie 1451, it doesn't miss a beat, barrel wear isn't an issue unlike some centrefire rifles as long as it's been looked after it'll be fine, just one word of advice tho, try before you buy.
