Best scope for a .22 rimfire
GRAM71 replied to Carlowhunter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
no better than the cheapest of them mate, how much are they? i have a 3-12x50 endurance and it wasn't any better optically than my old 50 quid 3-9x50. -
Best scope for a .22 rimfire

the thing is, most 22lrs are used mainlyfor rabbit control, the quality of the glass certainly makes a big difference for dusk/dawn shooting, even on the lamp, if it's fitted with a dimmer, the better end scopes can pick up the quarry far better. Not knocking the likes of hawke, i had one for years on mine, but after changing over to a redfield and then a leup i haven't looked back. -
that's what i found out from doing a search on google, a few posts on the SD, they were about £275 when they hit the market, i've used it a few times and it does work much better than my 3rd eye tac mod for noise reduction, a bit of a sod to strip if they get too dirty tho, so regular cleaning is a must. I'll get some pictures sorted when i can work out how to downsize them, i'm not too technically minded when it comes to pooter wizardry...

i used m10 bolts, chem fixed into an exterior wall. firstly, position the cabinet, mark the holes, move the cabinet, drill the holes, reposition the cabinet, squirt in the chem fix, insert bolts, leave for a couple of hours to cure, do up nuts.

1, hawke 8x56 30ir, mint condition, £75 posted. 1, hawke 3-12x50 endurance 30ir, £140 posted. poss p/x with a decent lamp set up, or a pump action 12g, pm for details thanks, gram.

hate p/a, it's a real bind for me, i have one on my 6.5 but that's a deer rifle, i just sit up and wait for them to come to me, i have a vx3 and a redfield on my rimmies, much easier to find the target without having to adjust anything, i've found that for closer work turning the mag down helps with focus issues, i don't need 10 mag for 50 yd bunnies

Hi gents, just wondering about these, i have one for sale and haven't had a bite, is there anything inherently wrong with them? your thoughts and opinions please thanks gram.

hi chap, i have a bretton gaucher b/a 410, it replaced a 12g mossy pump action which to me was still very loud, but not from 30yds away as my mate told me, it depends how quiet you need to be, the mossy sounded like a car backfiring, but from a bit of distance it wasn't bad at all, not silent by any means, but no where near like a normal shotty with subsonic carts. Saddlery and gun room make the hush power stuff, they do a really nice moderated spanish 3 shot b/a 410, I think it's a Norica

+1 for redfield, i heard a rumour they were basically a revamped vx1, with better turrets, if you're looking for a good quality but cheap hawke, i have a mint 8x56 30ir sat in the spare room doing nothing, cost me 140 new, i put it on one of my rimmies, then i bought a redfield after seeing one, send me a pm if you're interested -
STILL FOR SALE, c/w new nylon bush, just needs reaming to fit your barrel.
-
yep, give me your email and i'll send you some i cannot be arsed (don't have a clue)how to downsize them to post on here.

hi, i've got this sitting around in my cabinet, just wondering if anyone on here needs one, it's 1/2" unf, .25 cal, fully strippable, off ticket, and in very good condition. the rear bush needs replacing, i think i might have something that will fit but it'll still need reeming to fit the barrel. i can email pictures on request. £130 posted. cheers, gram.

sako finnfire brilliant 22 accurate but quite pricy the quads are no where near as good! i have to agree, my quad wont extract unfired rounds still! changing the barrel is just plain daft unless you buy one of those scopes burris make especially for it, or re zero/ buy another scope. best go for a dedicated calibre gun. my alltime favourite is still my 20yr old anschutz

not seen any, i went out last week to my main perm for the first time this year, bit of a worry as there were at least 6 last year. they do help keep the rabbits down.

Clean your barrel or leave it dirty?
GRAM71 replied to langouroux's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
it depends on the conditions, range work means a very dirty barrel after a session, foxing and stalking i might only let off a couple, and if it's a dry night then it just doesn't need it and it'll only get a clean every other outing. -
shame it isnt for roe like it is north of the border. talk about inconsistent firearms laws The beardy twats at the BDS talked the ACPO out of allowing .22 for roe in England at the last review some one needs to the bds that modern guns are loaded from the back and dont use black powder LOL how true... 243 is a good all round calibre, certainly the most popular of the middle weight calibres. just to throw a spanner in the works have you considered a 6.5x55, or 25-06? these are gaining quite a following. as for bunnies then 22lr all the way for me.

22lr all the way fella, i have a 20 yr old anschutz that still clover leafs at 100m, 17hmr is a different ball game, as many people dislike as like the calibre, i used to have no end of grief with mine, probably down to improper cleaning, they are a copper jacketed round and need to be treated the same as a centrefire, use a good bore cleaner and leave over night if possible, this will help lift copper residue from the bore and make it easy to clean, the worst thing you can do to a rifle barrel is scrub it with the brush within an inch of its life. Funny thing about the 17hmr, it's less prone
