  1. Cheers fella, comes in handy when Sock's imaginary stalker mate rings up. But with regards to your choice for the future, make ya fecking mind up! Folk may start to think your just a dreaming theorist I'm not doubting that Jukel, I also understand his liking for a sturdy dog. Its just all the continual musings over which breed to put over a greyhound to get the desired dog GSD x's excell at that game, and if it ain't broke, why fix it?
  2. I use the saying, "use what you like, hit 'em in the noggin and they will fall over!"

  4. If you hanker after the past, and that's where. .22 served well, why change? So you have to be more judgemental on range! Creep a bit closer. It's sport, not pest control. With progress we sometimes loose skills that made our experiences so much more memorable
  5. A GPS lurcher! Tell Darcy, sounds right up his street! To be honest, I'd like one too. I've heard Halfords have a good line
  6. Call it what the feck you like. It's your dog. May I suggest Paki. Try shouting that in a park
  7. Great feedback! I may have missed it, but what feedback have you had from Airarms? You also mentioned other shooters feedback of the same problem, any idea how common it is? Apologies for some random questions!
  8. You do have to give it a reasonable bump on the end of the stock to simulate recoil so the second barrel will fire Your are right, need to bounce it butt first on the ground from around six inches - ish
  9. Put some snap caps in it and see if it still does it. First try it by pulling the trigger twice, with a lay between each pull. Then try it again, but pull the trigger once, then give the gun a good bang on the butt plate and then pull the trigger again. If it fails to work under the first method, I would suggest bent firing pins. If it fails to work under the second method, the inertia block is not switching from one barrel from the next. In this case, a good clean of the action is your first step. Hope that helps. Ps if you have no snap caps, but want to try it anyway, use a couple of emp
  10. Cheers for the squeaking tip JD. I've built a barn owl box, but erected it too late (ground waterlogged so couldn't get the tractor on!) so it may get used next year. I am trying to sit on the main flightline in and out of the field and that way the evening sun lights them up just nice. Just need more patience
  11. keep trying to get some good flight shots of barn owls. Not quite what i'm after, but think i'm getting there and one for Paulus
  12. do you know if is a mechanical or inertia operated single trigger? and is a selective trigger?
  13. J.Dog, hats off to you for what you have done for this dog. Not many would have followed through on their feeling like that. But don't be too proud as to accept the help off some of the lads and lasses on THL. Speak to your vet and get a figure for all the cost so far, including the tail off and after care. Surely if they know the background to why you brought this dog in, they will knock back the cost.
  14. Thing is, you have to point them at it. I'm not breed blind because I have one. For a little lump he is quite handy and when beasties are about he knows they are there before I do. But as a "hunting dog" he lacks a little. Yet when he connects he seems to think he's 30lbs heavier
  15. I'm Bolton way. But not sure where dog was rescued from. I'll ask next time I see her. Enjoy. I know I would
  16. did she say that was swift did she say that was swift No mate. One swallow doesn't make a summer. But it made my morning
  17. Vet came out to see one of our lasses horses a month ago. She had a rescue lurcher the spit of yours nipper. Had no idea what was in it. I suggested Brittany. She had it DNA tested and came back half Brittany. She was back this week to check on the horse and I had it out for a stretch on one of our enclosed paddocks to break it to sheep as her last dog was shot for been in a field near some. After it had settled down and got the gist of things we took it out around some rough pasture. The dog had a nice natural quartering style and plenty of pace for a rabbit dog. It put up a good show on a co
  18. there was a swallow in the bedroom this morning, but that's a different story. Bet it'll be months before I see another one here!
  19. Free beer!? I'll start tomorrow. If I start in the summer i get very thirsty and bankrupt the poor lad
  20. ffs close the thread, how can anyone compete with that,i would fecking live in that lol. Our lass says if I spend anymore time with the dogs or hunting or fishing I will be. Better get a log burner fitted then. Hey ho
  21. one of my neighbours had spar and cat problems at her bird feeders. To stop this, I built a feeding station inside a gabian basket. The type used for landscaping. The 3 inch mesh is strong and stops predators but the majority of garden birds can get in and feed in relative peace. The old lass says its worked really well. I'll get a pic up if I get chance to take one.
  22. He did....there off now. That was peanuts though mate. Probably asked the same for a year for sheep as you would get a month for horses. On the plus side the grass got a well needed chew down... bung some stables up "diy" livery £60 a week per stable = RESULT Dont worry mate its defo in my mind for the future. Reckon that will be my retirement plan. Looked into it already and there are folk paying 250 a month for full livery. I think thats basic..stabling, grazing and maybe training area. Nice wee 10 stable set up and happy f*****g days...."if you build it, they will come!"..... some
  23. I wish. Just tanalised timber. The rest of my sheds don't look like that and are jammed with shite or critters
  24. Cheers for the compliments. Just need to find time to sit in the bugger
