  1. dachshund x deerhound is what you need!
  2. At the current rate of attrition, I'll just be glad if any of mine are still up and running next season
  3. Quick mooch for an hour this afternoon, turned into 3 hours route march to get back home. Lost in the next valley, and no idea how I got there. Then had to nip back in the truck to recover some stuff I the dogs found. Knackered, pi## wet through and happy as Larry

  4. necrophilia is okay until some cnut splits on ya
  5. I think your going to need a bigger bucket
  6. True, but many don't get given the chance to work out what it's there for. Most point and slip machines, given the opportunity and time will suss it out. But many don't have the basic training to allow that opportunity
  7. Whilst tree planting in NZ, often shat in the woods. Start of ripping the pocket off your shirt to wipe your arse, then bits off your shirts sleeve. Carried on till it became a vest! Why piss in the shed? We all piss, so what's wrong with doing it in the flower bed, or drain top? Too many hang ups on here!
  8. its not a nose, it a depth gauge
  9. Try West Midlands Safari park. Its dead quite at night, Just keep an eye out for them big moggies
  10. I use a blade tech on the Mora knives we have on the yard. But for good steel try a Spyderco sharpmaker. On Kitchen knives I use a Vulkanus sharpener. Will take a lot of steel off but great for touching up blades.
  11. Thank you Darbo Did he really have a dog called Monica Lewinsky.... That said, my mate's got one called Fritzel... Very distinctive dog was ML. Splash of white across it's chest
  12. My lads bitch is 3/4 grey,1/8 border,1/8 beardie,"Woodie"'s a nice enough looking dog but a bit small for my liking and he has never seen any work,I only ever buy off worker/worker and agree with a lot of the lads posting the same, genetics (despite some of the rubbish written on the previous page) is my strong point and it is the proven dogs over many years that produce the better progeny, they have to be tested fully and still be of sound feet and body before considering breeding a litter, dogs that get knocked up and suffer damage from week to week only pass on that poor DNA,I understand you c
  13. try using fish based carp bait like halibut pellets. I've had mink throwing themselves onto traps for them. If you need an extra pair of hands give me a shout, i'm just down the road from you, Edgworth way
  14. Cheers lads, I know it's part of the rich tapestry of the dog game, but having added a third dog in last season, I hoped I would have reduced down time. It's just a pis###r when they were all fizzing up nicely
  15. The dogs were shaping in up nicely pre season. Usual road work and some steady mooching sessions. Go on holiday and come back to find them fat as seals! Back out with the bike and a few short lamping sessions and they all 3 are back in reasonable nick. A few good runs for the bigger dog and some nice outcomes, mooching rabbiting cur keeping me honest and had a nice few rabbits in and around the rush beds and the occasional game bird and the little bull x now starting to earn his keep in good style. Feeling quite pleased with the first few weeks. Then went and knocked my back which laid me
  16. Cameron loves being out and about with the dogs....she's a wee trooper and can walk some fair distances....at her own pace... Hoping to get her ferreting for an hour one morning this week.....she'll love that..... i know she is only small, but even so, I don't think that she will get down the hole. Try a fox set, be far more accommodating for the wee lass
  17. I wish more people had that patience and resolve. Well done that man and dog
  18. No worries. Mate has the jacket and is chuffed. Let us know if the strides any good
  19. when they first came out, they were very popular. became known as the clitoris suit, because every cnut had one! My jacket gave up the ghost after 2 years of abuse, but never really leaked up until that point though. Worth a punt. But at this price these take some beating http://www.uttings.co.uk/p112914-snowbee-haldon-breathable-shooting-jacket-khaki-11991/#.UlwfyFCsjlU
  20. if they are the leather lined sovereign hunters with a goodyear welted commando sole, then Hunter are telling porkies. They used to include in the box an address of a cobler in Edinburgh that was able to replace the soles ( well they did when I bought a pair of seconds from John Norris 5 years ago). Get the shop who sold you them to check in boxes of new sovereign hunters and see if they still have it in there.
  21. Got dogs all fit and ticking along nicely, hopeful for a good season. Now I've gone and fecked my back, bleeding typical !!!

  22. Don't avoid them, just wouldn't pick a half x first time around. 1/4 collie, the rest made up of whatever mix of grey and whippet (or deerhound!) you fancy, dependant upon the type of ground you think you will be running it on
  23. My first lurcher was a first cross, very easy to train and bring on.Their seems to be a thing on here about collie cross greyhounds as not a good first lurcher, can,t get my head round it?I'm not knocking collie x's, I've had a few and my first dog was a collie x. They are easy to train, but they pick up bad habits just as quick as good ones. Some dogs with half or more collie can easily become obsessed with a certain activity, which can become a pain in the arse ( I have made these mistakes before). A beginner is better with a dog that learns at the same steady pace that the handler learns. Not
