  1. Yes pal I read it tried to get my uncle to write in but hes not really an extrovert to be honest! But all the things Hancock said ring true to be fair this cross has been around and a few people use it, my uncle started a line about 20 years ago. not bad for a 1/2 fell hound 1/2 greyhound ehhh I would not that dog down as a half x to a fell hound.
  2. theres was never a lot of alsation xs even in the 70s they was few and far between.get your best dog and run it against birds joke , over 2 or 3 days to take away luck, and take one of your mates with you that way yowl look a bigger cnt than you already are Kin el, you seem an awfully aggressive type of person at times! Lol. But you are right, alsation x's were never a common type im not aggressive at all ,i don't like people who give advice when they don't know what there talking about, there is one thing iv learnt from him, i used to think he was an ass hole but he's not he's an
  3. Belting post . And dare I say it, but before certain authors started writing about 'traditional' collie x's etc' that gundog, or even mongrel with a bit of gundog in, would've breen pretty much as common as collie x etc I've seen real handy lurchers bred out of farm curs. Mostly collie, but with accidental or other wise, lab, GSD. Call them a mongrel if you will, but most have a real primitive streak that has much to add to a working lurcher
  4. Because they don't sell. If some folk thought they could easily shift litters of them, they could be as popular as many other x's.
  5. oh and why we're on subject his brothers got a first x springer x saluki grey dog top draw on rabbits Strange, plenty seem to have good experience of gun dog crosses. Many Appear to appreciate what the could bring to the working lurcher, yet few seem to breed beyond collie, bull, bedlington to various sighthound crosses. Are we genuinely missing a trick? or are we just getting misty eyed and romantic? I'm not knocking, just asking these lads do sum serious shooting seem to work for them As lurchers doing the work of gun dogs, or gun dog crosses doing the work of lurchers. or both
  6. stock netting with posts every 6ft, with a top rail. extra bottom plain wire tight to the ground. This has kept out saddlebacks in for the last 7 years. had to swap wooden gates for metal as they ate them. Never had any issue, and neither has anybody I have done similar fencing for on pigs.
  7. Hats off to you. Thats a gents touch. And a rare one at that.

  9. Tarn. If memory serves me right that was reverse 3/4 bred GWP/grey
  10. Nice dog AtThanks mate she loved to work I'd still be grafting her now if it wasn't for them RSPCA c**ts I recognise that bitch. Are you down south? Nah, I think its a big Con
  11. The interesting thing is, why are the B&W now acceptable? A good dog is never the wrong colour, but previously wrong colours may become right colours. For entirely the wrong reason. I pray that it is not the case in this instance. Kennel club? TC I think it came from Germany wanting purity. Which is a new concept for them!

  13. ive never seen a munsterlander at work or know anything about them i noticed on preloved while having a browse there was a litter of munsterlander x whippet cross whippet x collie in wales. When I got my first GWP l done a lot of research into the breed. One article I read stated that the Munsterlander who are black and white, were created from the rejected GWP for not being the right colour for the breed standard. The article I read stated when they decided to breed a new type of HPR dog the Deutsch Drahthaar (GWP) they decided to make the colour standard liver and white, solid liver
  14. ive never seen a munsterlander at work or know anything about them i noticed on preloved while having a browse there was a litter of munsterlander x whippet cross whippet x collie in wales. from what I've seen they have the nigh on all the drive and ability of the GWP, but function at % of their ability most of the time. But reared well know when to turn up the wick to 100%. Whereas the GWP seem to run at 90/95% most of the time. If that make sense. So when crossed with a dog that has the sighthound/lurcher, it could just make the difference in the outcomes sensibilty. But as I said its p
  15. Of all the HPR breeds that I have seen at work, the large munsterlander would be my preference for a lurcher cross. But the fire in some of the GWP is a thing to cherish.
  16. Depends what plod is like in your area and what you are up to. Done it myself in the past, and they still turned up mob handed.

    Tramadol

Tramadol was developed from codeine. So that it could be as strong as morphine, but without the "issues" of codine or morphine We made loads of the stuff. But the basics are that dose for any analgesic varies from patient to patient. reduce the dose, to 1 tab x4 a day. If that stops the side effects, but not enough pain relief, then try 2 tabs, 3x per day. then take it from there. but do not exceed the daily recommended dose.
  18. Bugger, I've just gone and put one over my Dogo!
  19. Thanks for putting my point much better than I managed to ! Ditto.
  20. how many "deerhounds " worked down under are pures? Or are their staghounds line bred deerhound crosses?
  21. I'm in two minds on this one. The DDA is an arse, but so are people. They may be seen as status dogs by chavs and wanabees, but given freedom to own them will only increase the level of ownerships by unsuited owners. Be they chav's or well intentioned pet owners. The DDA needs changing, but I don't believe that such dogs should be freely available either.
  22. who cares what they look like. Thats where we went wrong in the first place.
  23. If you wanted to improve the modern deerhound with an outcross, the modern, performance bred saluki would be a damned fine choice
  24. he will have a hell of job on. They died last yearplenty to go at round this way Catch and release. Now I understand
