Terrier work in the USA - Photos and Stories.
dillydog replied to SheepChaser's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
The coons were mostly taken with terriers in barns, some were taken in old log piles, I can't remember digging any from a natural earth but it wasn't from the lack of trying. The coyotes were all taken with lurchers Edited to say that the barn hunted coons were shot with a .22 humanly as soon as possible once we got to the terrier and coon -

Her granddaughter, similar size, chest like a pint pot

Her jackets in on this picture, I'm just trying to give an idea that size doesn't automatically give weight

D I kept my mouth shut for a few years about the typical stamp I see on here, I went to type it but decided not to say anything because of the strong opinions on them. I've heard they're doing the work, I don't doubt it for a second, but the style of work they're known for wouldn't suit the type i see on here. I've never weighed a terrier in my life, the only time I've had one weighed was when my old bitch went to the vets for treatment, she was about 12" high and if I remember right she was 20 pound. The weight of a terrier doesn't give you the dimensions, she was tiny in the ches

Ugly is as ugly does, I appreciate a worker first, they're just not what I'm used to looking at
-
I can honestly say I've never seen a single terrier from this line that I like the look of, to high in the leg and to weak in the head. I hear the works in them, i just don't like the stamp, and no, it's not a cheap shot, just stating my opinion...............and before you say it, yes i know opinions are like arseholes

Unless you've got a God like touch mate any infection will have started once teeth meet flesh, any open wounds will have soil and bacteria in them, no amount of cleaning will stop what's coming. For obvious reasons I won't go into it but we'll have to agree to disagree.
-
Why would you let any infection take a foothold ? Surely it's better to save any infection from ever taking place ? My vet once told me that even under surgical conditions flesh just sometimes wants to die back. I've beat myself up plenty enough times over the infections I've personally seen to know better mate, and that's with veterinary care.

Learn to walk away, stay out of sight and sound, we used it once remember. Keep the faith, sometimes they're just desperate for work, hunt terriers are bad for it, out of the quad and onto a dig, you need the odd day trying empty places just to calm them down. If they f**k about just walk on, keep quiet and sooner or later they'll be out, don't make a fuss keep calm and try, try again.

You must both keep poodles ? All power to you both, but there's injuries and then there's injuries, to say a bit of soap and water and aftercare will sort a working terrier out 90% of the time is delusional and just as dangerous as jabbing for the sake of jabbing. Seek veterinary advice, it's not cheap but it's cheaper than a court case, it's cheaper than replacing your terrier and you owe it to the animal.

Flamazine cream is the dogs danglies, Google it, very good but there's never a one size fits all treatment plan, if in doubt see your vet. There's countless dogs suffering unnecessarily just because of our ridiculous laws, everything was pushed underground, only the dogs suffered. Times have changed from when I first started, the old "salt water" crew are mostly dead and buried. Google will tell you the use of any generic drug, don't take people's words for it, educate yourself. God knows how much the lazy doctors push antibiotics on people these days, it's not like they're hard
