  5. Not many of them about lad, if any??. Their rare as hens teeth, as far as i am concerned, i could be prooven wrong, like to see it for my self? Just my opinion. who said that your buddy FAGAN??gm do you actually own a coursing dog and have you coursed here and across the water??????????? Have coursed hares yes, got a few over the passed 21 years of owning running dogs, but only had a couple of saluki crosses, one was crap, my fault, bought in haste, the other a pup, was a 3/4 greyhound, 1/4 saluki, she got injured a lot, too much hound, but she got a few before this, gave her away as

  7. why do you fannys need to use a multitude of names to respond .be a man and stick to the one name .as sore loser ,i aint lost anything ffs .like i told you i was a guest there . ps notice how i spelt loser , you have a pm.
  8. Likewise, agree Banner man, its a mystery to me where its coming from as well ! That lad goes out of his way to help other lads, not bring their dogs down, no way!
  9. Garf does not own that saluki Mike anymore J, a man near me has him. Good producer.
  10. I have often not agreed with some of the things ye have said in the passed Speedie, but this statement above you made, i agree with and its true, the irish hare, is nothing like the scottish mountain hare, its far more stronger and bigger. Its a breed on its own. Also, the irish hare, can cross breed with the brown hare, as its mainly happening in the north of Ireland. The Irish hare, is very closely related to the brown.
  11. In the passed 20 years, i have heard a few tales of saluki saturated dogs coming over from the uk to here in Ireland, big money being payed, only for them to find out, they could hardly catch a thing!! If their is any saluki saturated dogs out their lads, or even, pure salukis, catching regular with evidence, i would love to see it, here in Ireland.
  12. Keep up the good work with them first crosses Banner man, should have plenty of fun with them come the season. Looking forward to it and eventually, when i get set up, hopefully it will be happy days. ..
  13. No offense to anyone here, but, i did start the topic for the lads in Ireland. I know that its a total different thing, running dogs here and Ireland and my respect goes out to the lads that have them good dogs for the fens ect. However, this topic is about dogs running over here, cheers.
  14. Nice one Banner man, looking very much forward to that, i like them 2 litter sisters very much. Cheers.
  15. One of the best dogs i have seen run for a long time is Banner mans bitch, she is a first x saluki greyhound and killed her first few hares at 10 months, she killed a fox single handed at a year old and has since killed any amount of hares, she is some bitch for a first cross, bred well. She is a quick worker and has a deadly mouth!
  16. I agree, i think its a good dog, that can kill a hare consistently, in the same field that it was put up in winter. I have also heard about the big land in carlow and Louth ect, take some dog to kill consistent their apparently in the winter months, would love to see that some time, as where i am, you need a quick up and at them controlling type, with stamina for a days hunt. JF, good point about the stop watch.
  17. You will be surprised how many times some dogs turn hares when your busy watching the course, to keep the hare in the field.
  18. Yes, i would also like to know this as well, as that's what i hear every now and then, dogs coursing for 6 mins, that would be a bloody good course on the fens i reckon, never mind for here!!
  19. Cheers lads, for your experiences and opinions so far. Some good points. Keep it coming folks, bit of banter for the off season.
  20. Well, the last few years, it seems, the longer the dog courses a hare the better, over here in Ireland! I hear tales of, O, this bitch ran her hare 6 mins, or that bitch ran her hare 4 mins ect ect, crazy long times, i wonder, as its over here, how much of the courses is seen???? At one time, if a bitch or dog, killed its hare quick and had stamina for a few turns, with consistancy, this was fine and a lot of lads over here were happy with that. Now it seems, with more saluki blood in the lines, lads are trying to achieve a drawn out course, up and down for mins on end?? Why?? Would like t
