    Good photo,I agree that the working deerhound is a rare animal because of the way things are and thats a shame ,I think that they have a certain quality of feirceness that other sighthounds dont have.

    great grandson of coranach pennys cheiftain Had the privilage of seen your dogs grandfather winning his first coursing event at 15months old, and his second 3 weeks later, asked Sheila if I could use him as a stud, and we were the first to use him, he wouldnt win a show, but by christ could he run Have heard he was a good dog and like his grandfather this deerhound is never going to be a show dog, although at 22 months he's no coursing legend, he is showing some promise.

    Hi mate i was there with my deerhound,i was gonna come over to say hello but my dog can be a bit funny with other large dogs,nice dog you have there.You were beaten in the final by my mates dog who has done very well in the shows this year

    Out last night for a mooch about and my salukixd/h g/h starts air scenting,then hes off over the fence and into the next field out of sight,when i get within a 100 yards of him he looks like hes caught something but is struggling to pick it up,strange as he always returns anything caught.As i get to him he greets me with a blood covered chin and i realise why he was having problems with his prey ........it was a hedgehog.Anyone else with stories of strange quarry?
